So, when I hear debates about Gay Marriage and abortion, I have to ask myself- "Self, Have we forgotten all about the Bill of Rights?" and of course, "When did we abolish the separation between church and state?"
Turns out we haven't...Please, take a moment to review the principles that our Nation is built upon before pushing your beliefs onto your fellow American citizens.
Our liberty and freedom depend upon it!

This is interesting because our freedoms are going down the tubes and I'd very much like to know how many people are aware of this. If anyone knows anything about this, I'd really like to know. I would really like it if impeaching Bush and Cheney would get some momentum. They need to be held accountable for all their abuses and lies. Some say it's too late. I say it's never too late!

granny63, I just don't know. I was enraged when Prissy Pelosi announced "Impeachment is off the table." Dennis Kucinich said he is going to bring up impeachment for Cheney this next week. All I can think to do it write letters to at least your Representatives, and one to the Speaker of the House suggesting she either use it or get off the pot and let someone with some courage use the pot. You can watch the Senate and House proceedings on your computer at http://www.cspan.org/homepage.asp You might also give http://www.airamerica.com/ a listen for some real news. People are unaware of what is happening because Ronald Reagan dismantled the freedom in broadcasting and Bill Clinton finished it off. Six corporations own most of the media. They control what we find out and it isn't much. You have to search out news now. We are in deep stuff and most are totally unaware of it. If we work hard we might be able to save it.

I'm glad you guys see what I mean. Honestly, I find it baffling that Americans have totally lost sight of the principles that our nation is founded on. If not for those principles, we'd be nothing more than a giant money making machine run by corporations. Worse yet, we're using our military as an arm of these corporations in order to secure resources. What would good ol' Washington or Ben Franklin say? I'm sure they would be very disappointed. **********Do you guys have any ideas on how we can remind the nation of their rights and bring the constitution back as a guiding force in our legislative decisions? I'm all ears.

Thanks for that link IFM. Thank god SOMEONE said it! It's interesting that it's either so obvious to you that you're about to lose your mind, or you are totally oblivious to the fact that your rights are being chipped away at. We need to get the general population to wake up and smell the unconstitutional coffee. Let's make some decisions based on logic, common sense, and principal instead of damned projected ROI!(Return on Investment for those of you who didn't take a boring business class)

How about a computer based printable political newsletter? People could print extra copies and distribute them (in the dead of night in my neighborhood). Just an idea I've been thinking about.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Here's something else I found today. www.ccrjustice.org

the u.s constitution. to include our abridged freedomsi think everyone needs to occasionally look at these documents. copy them share them teach the children. lawyer's and politicians have done their best to erode them but they are still one of the strongest defenses sanity has in this world. note amendments 9 and 10 of the bill of rights when considering if the fed. should be involved. the people... republic... inalienable rights... now consider the damage the erosion of these rights we have allowed since their inception. yeah it has happened often but like the climate it is greatly accelerated... our current administration seems hell bent on profit before democracy. on dismantling these documents at an unprecedented rate. our government ignores us. time for a wake up call. IMPEACH and frankly about "gay" marriage ... let's just get over ourselves. who are we to say whether or not its right for someone to do something that does not affect anyone else but themselves?
