but than again all we build is gas munchers,
and all the workers are striking, thinking that
a company owes them 6+figure salaries when all they do
is screw (hehe) and weld.
so what would scooby do. -
Good job Ben! I especially liked the analogy to cholesterol, so very true. I was born and raised in Houston and can tell you that Pittsburgh is not alone in this boat. Downtown Houston is a pretty scary place to go after working hours. Like Pittsburgh, it is a vibrant hub of business during the day with most of the major oil companies housed there. But when the whistle blows at 5:00, its like a pack of roaches scattering to the suburbs leaving nothing but dust behind. They have developed the area around Minute Maid Park and the Convention Center with some local shops and eateries, but this is a small portion.
If you're interested in seeing the other end of this spectrum, check out downtown Fort Worth, TX (www.fortworth.com). I would guess that almost as many people party downtown during the evenings as work during the week. There are many bars, clubs, and restaurants, not to mention two movie theatres that I frequented a lot while going to college. The demographic that goes down there at night are young students and professionals. Police are well represented too. -
San Antonio's riverwalk and market center are also good examples

very thoughtful and appropriate
i like seeing peduto's work environment & approachability, and then, onorato's clean desk smiling face & pat answers.
i'm looking forward to the next one! -
I really enjoyed watching your doc. Peduto is a really good and accessible guy. I'm surprised you got face time with Onorato. You'll have to tell me what strategy you used to get him on film. I wish I could have gotten interviews in mine, but I didn't have the equipment or time. Was the sound equipment all yours, or did you get it from somewhere like Pittsburgh Filmmakers? You had great sound considering you were outdoors for most of your interviews. I look forward to what ever project you come up with next.
I hope you don't mind if I plug my own doc here. For anyone interested at a closer look at Pittsburgh receiving the 2007 Most Livable City accolade check out my Pod: Most Livable City.
