Seven Europeans were released earlier Sunday after Nicolas Sarkozy held one-hour talks with Chad's president. The seven were accused of kidnapping.
This is the second time this year that France has helped negotiate the release of European Prisoners. Earlier this year, Nicolas' now ex-wife, Cecilia, visited Libya and negotiated directly with Gadaffi in a successful mission to free five jailed Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor.

Actually, Cecilia didn't negotiate with Gadhafi for the release and transport of the Bulgarian nurses and the Palestinian doctor to Bulgaria - the negotiating had been going on for months and neither Sarkozy nor his wife were involved in them. They merely opportunistically grabbed the glory for themselves.

Wow. I hadn't heard that. Thanks Vierotchka!

Unless, of course, Cecilia had sex with Gadhafi......in order to get the final release of the nurses and doctor (it seems that having sex with Gadhafi does obtain desired results) - which would in turn explain the Sarkozy divorce...

The only thing that the Sarkozys arranged for was a French government airplane to fly the nurses and the doctor to Sofia, Bulgaria.

Why Did Cecilia Sarkozy Go to Tripoli?French first lady Cecilia Sarkozy flew to Libya last weekend and ushered six long-jailed medics to freedom on Tuesday morning. She got to smile for the cameras in Bulgaria, but officials in Berlin and Brussels consider her a PR queen who meddled in delicate negotiations at the last minute.
As soon as a French government jet bearing five Bulgarian nurses and one Palestinian doctor landed in Bulgaria on Tuesday, new French president Nicolas Sarkozy gave a press conference. With the release of the six medics from a Libyan prison, a "nightmare" had ended, he said -- not neglecting to mention the role of his wife. "Cecilia," he declared, "has done a remarkable job."
