Mr. Vice President,
I understand when you say to trust you in that you know how to be most influential, whether it be in elected office or in the private sector. But I ask you once again, please run. The world needs you. And in my humblest of opinions, The Leader of the Free World sounds like it would be a pretty effective office to hold. Please run. We will re-elect you in '08.-

That's it.Take a cogent, intelligent, heartfelt article and turn it into a campaign slogan. He is asking US to run for this planet and this is all he gets in return. A broken record.

Al Gore should run in '08 with a new approach. I would like to see him run with Chuck Hagel. They could take on mainstream media for what they are = Warmongers. War with Iran is an important issue. There is talk of tactical nukes being used on Iran. I hope he takes a moment of pause and realize war with Iran and the use of tactical nukes would have a devistating affect on the environment. Future races may not be as important as the '08 race, giving him the voice to out the warmongers in this administration and mainstream media. Also uniting Democrats and Republicans whose voices are not being heard. It's time to unite Americans, to stop War with Iran and the destruction of the environment beyond repair. Gore/Hagel '08 would shake the foundation of the two party system. It's time something shakes things up. Today is the day, America is the place! We need Al Gore now, not politics as usual. Go-along to get-along is hurting us and the world.

Artiface triviality nonsense.....is that right? Perhaps. Doesn't seem like too much to wade through to take our country back. We would all have to do that. And we need someone who is committed to that as well. We can't change it if we do not buck the system and replace it with something better. We are willing and working in droves. Our movement needs a leader Mr. Gore. Any suggestions?

What I got from your words Al is most of the country isn't ready for you only us political activists and the climate groups.
While I want to scream you could make them ready, I also know most of America stuffing hot dogs and chips in their mouths while they watch Paris Hilton and listen to Fox News its going to take a miracle for those to not only listen but do the big changes that need to be done.
I want to say run anyway, at least try...but I am going to do something nearly impossible for me. I am going to shut up and trust you.
Its hard not to feel hopeless right now, as you said there is no room for more rage inside any of us that care right now. I don't feel hope with any of the others running, or with our country the way it is going.
I did have hope that you could lead us but I am beginning to think you don't believe a good chunk of america is ready...
I am leaving on two week road trip tomorrow and glad to be away from all this. I feel like I have lost my fight and I need to regain it. I am spending time with my grandkids and they are what I have been spending the last 5 years fighting for... -
We are ready for the change in thought and action regarding our environment. It has been our leaders that are behind the curve. Now we just need a leader with a full understanding of the issue, passion and skill. hmmmmm. Al Gore comes to mind right of the bat and then I see static.
Got more people excited today when they saw my button and I gave them a glimmer of hope. The movement will be amazing! I fear a grassroots movement like this will be a long time coming again if you will not serve.
Please :( -
As members of the democratic party once again break from the majority of Americans and vote to confirm a man who doesnt know if waterboarding is torture, it is critical for new leadership. In 2006, the democrats campaigned on ending the war and holding the Bush administration accountable. Yes, their majority is too slim to accomplish much but in areas in which they do have control, they show themselves to be no different than the republicans. The rubber stamp has simply changed hands. Of course, I am writing of Senators Feinstein and Schumer's decision to vote to confirm Mukasey. They even used Mr. Bush's own logic in explaining their decision to do so. I will not support any member of the democratic party other than former Vice President Gore. I would like to see him come out publically and lambast his democratic colleagues for their lack of leadership. The American people are waiting on a leader. We have plenty of politicians and look where it has gotten us. I hope that Mr. Gore will rise to the occasion and lead America. I urge all voters to clean out the house and the senate of all who have betrayed America. It is time for new members of Congress and Al Gore as our President.

I'm feeling a lot like marlakay. The fight in me seems to be gone. I believe that Al Gore is the only one who would lead us in the right direction. A presidental canidate has to step up and take on the climate crisis as the number 1 priority and no one running now is doing that. It scares me. Without our leader hitting this challenge head-on, what type of world are we going to leave for our grandchildren? We are all working on doing our part for the planet but without the support of the government, what good is it doing? We need Al Gore but he doesn't seem to think so. Where do we go from here? I can't come up with an answer because I'm too tired of the fight. Who is going to take on this challenge? Who will be willing to fight big business to make this planet green? We can't do it without a strong leader.
Al Gore doesn't want to run, desn't want to be in politics. Can't say I blame him for that - at least not the way our political system is now.
However, I do believe Mr. Gore when he tells us to be patient and trust him. Patience was never my strong suit, but I'm willing to work on it, for him, anyway! -
I suggest we assist Al Gore in pushing the agenda he has laid out for our democracy and the environment. Impeachment and energy independence. We must insist on its adoption by the candidates running. If they do not step up and the election looks like it could go to the Republica party :) he will have to jump in, hence the non-Shermanesc statement and silence regarding telling us to stop. He understands the urgency but realizes that a normal election will not have the sway. Focus on his message, not the man, for the moment. I truly believe he has a plan and we are a major player but the plan has to really be ours and at our insistence.

I have to move on from my hopes of Mr. Gore running. As Randi Rhodes said, you cant be President and a venture capitalist. Though she may not of been speaking directly about former VP Gore, it holds true. He just accepted a partnership in an investment firm. I am looking closely at Dennis Kucinich. He seems to live his convictions. He is vegan, as I, and that tells me he walks the walk on Global Warming. He wants to create a Dept of Peace instead of just having a Dept of War. He lives in a 1600 sq ft home, drives a small car and comes from a working class family. I read that he is one of seven children and his family lived in a car at least once because of money struggles. People always say that they want a "regular" person to run for President....well, he is here. Dennis Kucinich can relate to the working class. Right now, I think he is who I will give my vote.

Consider Joe Biden as well! Randi and I both agree on this!

i guess when i listen to what mr.gore is saying it does make sense to me. even if he won, the climate is not yet right for him to be effective enough in the office of president to accomplish our environmental agenda.
that being said. me and mine we wait, mr gore. when you call we will answer. the planet and our constitution demand our loyalties. thank you for giving thought to our call for 2008. and weighing the gains vs the loss.
i trust in the acuity of your long term vision.-

I think Joe Biden would be a pretty good Secretary of State as would Bill Richardson. John Edwards could serve as Attorney General. There are many good choices to fill the cabinet of a Democratic President. Heck, there is probably a place for Chuck Hagel. After the hell our nation has been put thru with the horsie man in charge of FEMA, Enron executives writing energy policy and evangelical mercenaries working as a private army, I dont think there is much room for error. (Hopefully) I want a President that will restore the constitution as well as Americans' hope and pride. My first choice will always be former Vice President Gore. When and IF he decides to run, I will be there as I was in 2000. Until then, I have to work to get the best person elected who has decided to take on the challenge of cleaning up this mess.
