Albert Einstein once said, "The hardest thing in the world to understand is income tax."

I agree.

We've all been screwed at some point or another and no matter how you look at it, the system is always going to seem unfair. It's unfortunate that our federal bureaucracy has become so large that these taxes will always be a neccesity.

Look up Charlie Rengel's new ideas. Its considered the most comprehensive reform in the tax code that has been proposed in many years. The code is intentionally convoluted and at times hurts rather than helps. I think Einstein was one of few who might have actualy been able to understand it all. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I think resentment about taxes is part of the call of democracy. The idea that sparked the revolution wasn't the taxes themselves but a fair say in how they were assigned and how they were used. Our resentment makes us active citizens at times so that we can try and make sure that those taxes are well spent and fairly taken.

So the question is: what would be small?

Visit LSU Libraries Federal Agencies Directory
and use it to design a government which you think would be small enough.

Remember it's not enough to say it's large. You have to know what would not be large.
    Put up or shut up.
