Great video. Football is their passion but its sad that football is their only way out of poverty. I can connect to these kids because I wanna make it to being a pro but if I dont make it that doesnt mean that I will live a life of extreme poverty like these kids. Thats not just the case in Argentina but in many South American and African countries as well. Very sad indeed

in a country where an 80's soccer player is much more known than ANY historical figure, what else do you expect?
similar to baseball and the dominican republic

I really liked this video and wish it was longer. I'm really passionate about the sport and know it's like a way of life to many people around the world but to certain people, it's the only way to gain success. Not everyone is discovered and goes pro. I hope to cover stories like these when I become a journalist. Keep up the good work.

The original thinking behind this short video is good. Normally we only see the stars which emerge from the slums without thinking of the much greater majority who never make it and whose hopes are dashed. A longer clip could have contrasted the two sides of the coin. A continuous tragedy of the unsuccessful feeding the hope which keeps so many going.

- 2 years ago

To Stardate:
I don´t have a larger version edited, but could make it longer in another cut. This is kind of a rehearsal piece, because filming in "la villa" (slum) is complicated. Glad to see you want to see more! But to make it much longer would probably have to go back. Gerardo and I keep in touch with the kids and their families and they invited us to parties that they have.

- 2 years ago

Great video...I echo the sentiments of the previous response.
I am actually working on a pod right now that shows a little bit of what happens to these kids at the next level of "futbol juvenil". Albeit in a different vein, it will be a great compliment to this pod.

I was moved by the raw energy in this video. I have visited Argentina & seen many of the street kids & I hope this fabulous video brings more awareness to the plight of the kids after they turn 14 and no one & nothing is set up to help them in their transition. The video affected me emotionally, was direct & to the point, the orphans of the dream of being a soccer player in Argentina are left to the streets!
It is an artistic video melding news & the need for social activism - 2 years ago
