  • The interesting part is that most of those who are interviewed do not really say what this issue is all about, why the writers are striking. Of course, typically, strikes are all about money, could it be something more than money? They do state how this will impact them, not to much on how they feel it will impact the viewers, maybe just more reruns...

  • This is a really big deal. However, I bet that this strike is over quickly.. every shows ratings will go down and the company will begin to lose big chunks of money. Also, in every interview that i've heard about this strike, there was no specific reason given for the strike. I'm looking for more information if anyone has it!

  • I think it is wonderful that this strike is going on...even though it may affect us TV addicts...
The online TV industry and DVD rental sales/rental have increased dramatically...leaving these huge studios with a large amount of profit going to a few people. These writers need to be acknowledged and treated fairly being that they are what is behind all of these shows/movies that we tune into watch weekly. I honestly think why none of these people interviewed have anything direct to say is because their jobs in the industry are not directly affected at this point. These are celebrities that ARE getting a huge cut of these profits but if these writers are not acknowledged, then the when the contractors for the directors, etc expire it could cause a much larger problem...even more directly affecting the future of the industry and us as viewers.

  • here's my concern: it seems like TV shows are already struggling when it comes to viewership...for example, how many new shows are really doing well this season?

i get that the money from DVDs and also online viewings needs to get distributed properly but couldn't a strike like this end up doing more harm than good? the last strike is what led to the explosion in cable TV...i wonder where this will lead

  • Why They Fight
Explains how they're totally getting shafted on profits from new media. Seriously, they were offered *nothing.*

  • Interesting. I Would love to why they fight on air at Current actualy or at least see it as a submited POD to vote on. The quality is very high and the points are succinct and haven't been covered well in the media. Though a more personalized touch might help if it were to become a POD. Some video as well as the photos and perhaps some shots of the producer or narrators themselves. Very interesting issue especially since we are discussing it here on a social news site/television network.
