Mukasey was approved by the panel in an 11-8 vote. His nomination now proceeds to the full Senate, where he is expected to be confirmed.

So a few days go by, and now Senators aren't bothered by Mukasey's unwillingness to call waterboarding torture?

  • And you find this somehow shocking? If our nutless wonders in politics couldn't pass a non binding resolution against the war in Iraq, what makes you think they'd stand up to Bush on the confirmation of Makasey.

  • If the President is serious of spreading democratic ideals He had better ask Mukasey to answer the question directly.
    I saw the water boarding video on this very site,
    When an ex seal says, "that sucks"; And the people performing the technique are worried about him dying during the mock interrogation, that is proof; water boarding is torture.
    If this administration wants world respect, it will not allow water boarding or any other act that compromises the integrity of prisoners of war and the United States constitution..
    On a related note I find the euphemism "enemy combatants" legally convenient for an administration so dedicated to obfuscating their intentions.
