It says something about the character of our country, what we're willing to do about people waking up wondering how they will feed and clothe their children.

Promoting work study, ending predatory lending practices, and reminding us what poverty says about us as a nation. I am so happy to know a candidate sees this as the priority it should be and tackles two key points even in a sixty second comment. Your giving me a lot of hope back in the democratic process.
-
If you care, why don't i see you making comments anywhere or otherwise mingling with the community here? How can we take you candidates seriously when you can't be bothered to reply to the views of the people unless it's on national television? Please respond.

Rob for president!
-
You have a battle ahead Mr, Edwards. Go after the "front runner" with everything you have. I don't believe she cares about the average American and I don't think America does either. I think she is cold and calculating and will have a hard time convincing most of us otherwise. I am also afraid of her stance on Iran. And the fact that she never admitted her mistake as you did on Iraq. -
Dear John, You are doing most things right. I like and admire you. BUT, if you really want to be President get rid of your lame health care plan. It is too much like what Hillary came up with when she tried to "fix" health care last time around. We all hated her attempt. The majority of "the people" want Medicare improved and expanded. Everyone on it, all the same. We want the little boy on the cover of your book to have as care every bit as good as John Edwards children. We don't want people mandated to buy it. We don't like that concept. Add a percentage on the top of actual taxes paid to fund it. Get the for profit insurance companies completely out of health care. Doctors have spent years and barrels of money on their education, any profit should be theirs. I hope you will give this some serious consideration. Look at the honest polls, Dennis Kucinich is walking away with it because of his honest approach to health care.

By the way I told you to get some filming tips from Al gore. Obviously you didn't. Look away from the camera and keep your face straight and dignified for at least a full minute after the light comes on. Starting out with your mouth hanging open looking goofy doesn't help our cause.

you have my attention.
I'd like to hear more.
I'm concerned about the loss of our middle class.
I think we are failing to educate. I believe there is opportunity within our public school systems to teach finance and economics.
Can you tell me the truth?
Why do we not teach about money!
history, science, english are important but how important is learning to balance a checkbook...tell me how many "people" are working for money in this country and do'nt even speak english! -
MM, you notice how they don't pay attention? I'll be watching for the first candidate who actually gets involved with the conversation. If you don't have time to talk to the people, then you have no business holding this office.
-
I noticed Ang, No matter how I insult them they don't rise to the bait. I expected better from my guy (John Weasel Edwards.) I had even thought about volunteering to be his White Trash Advisor after he becomes President. I just thought he might not want to lose touch with us. Pears he doesn't care. I could have been invaluable as a film critic. He just continues to ignore us. He's no George Bush that's for sure. George keeps in touch by tapping my phone and reading my E mail. A little note posted here once in a while would let us know that he hasn't left for Dubai with my twenty-five dollars.

Dear John, In Case you are paying attention please go check this site. http://www.pnhp.org/
Physicians for a National Health Program is a single issue organization advocating a universal, comprehensive single-payer national health program. PNHP has more than 14,000 members and chapters across the United States.
Since 1987, we've advocated for reform in the U.S. health care system. A large part of our work involves educating health professionals about the benefits of a single-payer system--including fewer administrative costs and affording health insurance for the 46 million Americans who have none. .......
We endorse a fundamental change in America's health care - the creation of a comprehensive National Health Insurance (NHI) Program. Such a program - which in essence would be an expanded and improved version of Medicare - would cover every American for all necessary medical care.-

J. W. E. The people on this site are as important as anyone at any town hall meeting you could be at. There are a couple thousand mostly friendly. Why don't you post a little on some of these blogs in answer to a few of the postings? Say once a day? We are feeling ignored by you. Pick one and give a short answer. The groundswell of support would be overwhelming. So okay. maybe that isn't true but Angelina and I would like you better.

Hello Senator Edwards,
When the Clinton's passed the trade agreements, they gave our jobs away. That is why we have to buy trash from China. That is why we cannot afford health care. That is why there is poverty in this country. There are no jobs left; they went overseas. That is why I will never vote for the Clinton's. I wish Mr. Gore would endorse you, so you can become #1. I am a firm believer in Mr. Gore in what he is doing to save our planet. Are you a firm believer in creating new jobs to save our planet?
Sincerely,
Darlene Conner-

Hi John - thanks so much for taking the time to participate on Current.com. We visit your web site regularly to view clips supplied by "The Carolina Girl" - the best loyal blogger you could ask for! Your Q and A at a recent town hall meeting in N.H. was over the top! I wish every American could view that video. I belong to One Corps in S.C. - volunteer on your campaign. Our next campaign event on your behalf will be a food drive; we have numerous shelters in town with bare cubbards. Yes, WE as a nation must respond to hunger & poverty, & it starts with us, we the people. Fellow respondents, sure could use your help out here.
Rob, you're right, but have faith. Can't have John getting booed on national TV & losing votes to Hillary. Ms. Murray, John needs to be speaking with Iowa caucus-goers & New Hampshire voters during every waking moment of his life between now & Jan. 3, & raising $$ along the way. Don't take it personally if he doesn't have time for just you.
-
wizzie, He doesn't have time for me, us? You forgot Angelina. Think about what you just said. Please don't go around telling his supporters he doesn't have time for them. We are very apt to take it personally. Don't go around pretending to represent John Edwards. I'm pretty sure He wouldn't like that a whole lot.

Edwards,
I agree. We need a Robert Kennedy figure and I think, at least on this poverty issue you are the right person for the Job. I disgree with you on health care but that is America; we can disagree and still care for each other as a collective body of legal citizens.
COLAing the min. wage is smart but what about the individuals that have higher income but do not get a salary increase because of poor corporate performance, which in large part could be due to accelerated globalization. Should income increases be mandated by government? What is your economic theory on this? Or is your policy just to get lower income voters.
Can you please e-mail us your economic effects with such a min wage proposal, so our user base, which have economic and business degrees, can digest? Welcome to the new age, the age of the informative voter.
By the way, what is your proposals on economic integration with our Northern and Southern friends? I am very concern about our giving away of self-determination, which the Dems and Reps have sold in the last session of Congress.
I am looking for a response Sir. By the way, stop Hillary Care. Let me say that again, YOU MUST STOP HILLARY CARE.
Nice hair dude,

John, Please think about expanding and improving Medicare. That's what the majority of the people want. Remember DEMOCRACY, majority rule? Give some thought and express your opinions on rebuilding our infrastructure. Last but certainly not least what are your thoughts on a fast rail system in this country. I promise it would improve transportation and help our stressed environment. Oh, one more thing. Would you push through legislation requiring the automakers to come up with an electric car immediately?

John - you'll find a lot of your supporters on this site. The advice being given here is because we want you stand out above the front runners the media already coronated. And a couple of other issues you need to get a tougher stance on are the violations of our freedoms with wiretapping and this bill being voted on to stomp on our freedom of speech on line and in blogs as terrorist actions. Stand up to Hillary - sincerity and honesty can be detected a mile away, it has a special ring to it and we're not getting it from the front runner. Just talking to us here would be refreshing to say the least. Drop us a line, all of these good people are right.
-
Chique is right. You need to speak up louder and give America a dream and some hope.

I had a thought the other day. Why don't you make a DVD stating where exactly you stand on important issues, with a small part showing your entire family? We would like a small peek at the children. Send this out to your supporters. They in turn could invite their neighbors over for a coffee to introduce you to them. Most of us don't have any experience with this sort of thing, but a coffee (with cakes) is fairly simple. There could even be a jar for donation checks. This would be pretty doable for most people. Help make up for the media black out. I'd like a DVD and an answer. Do you think this is something that would help?

Mr. Edwards
You have my vote in the democratic primaries. Why? Because you are the only candidate that is actually talking specifically about how you will deal with poverty. However, in order to make things better financially for US citizens you will inevitably have to take on major corporations like Wal-Mart, Intel and Microsoft, to name just a few companies that are indirectly or directly shipping our jobs overseas. Are you willing to do that? I hope so, because without a major turnaround in the way the US worker is treated and subsequently disposed of by these companies, we are heading for third world status. -
I have to admit you have my attention Mr. Edwards. But how can we know that or trust that these actions you mention are viable when put into action? It almost sounds like it's too good to be true....I do hope though that your message is heard and that others will join you in making your plan, as much of it as possible, a reality. I wish you good luck~

Edwards more than any other candidate. He came from a working class family. He hasn't forgot where he came from. His Dad was a mill worker and his Mom was a nurse. Edwards himself is very wealthy. He earned every penny defending the rights of ordinary people, and winning. He is extremely smart. He is also honest and sincere.

Excellent, thank you.

John Edwards is the real deal. Period. He's one of the very few who actually get it and is running for the office of President because of what he wants to do for us all. Not for what it can do for him and his friends and family. And certainly not to take care of the lobbying factions that suck off the government teat. But for the forgotten middle class and the neglected who are living in poverty. The impending president would be wise to use this passionate, dedicated man in any capacity.
-
Senator Edwards -
You are spot on when it comes to so many issues. If it weren't for the corporate-owned media's concerted efforts to refuse coverage of your campaign I believe you would be the front runner at this time as you were the most viable progressive candidate. I am disappointed that you did not continue on until the convention, but I understand that it is probably better for the Democratic Party to establish a clear front-runner at roughly the same time as the Republicans so the Democratic candidates can turn their criticism away from each other and toward the likely Republican nominee. I just hope that Senators Clinton and Obama honor the pledge they each made to you.
I'm not the only one hanging on the the hope that whomever becomes the Democratic nominee will take you on as their running mate. If not, then I hope the next President appoints you as their Attorney General because I know you won't allow the Bush administration to slink away after the election and avoid criminal prosecution.-

We need vote reform! -
I don't think we vote in a president in order to listen from him nor do we vote in a president because he tells us what he's going to do.
A president should be like a TV set and the governed a remote control.
A president should be like a good facilitator and should listen and doe what his people want him to do.
The people we are talking about are the those who make up the majority and I think that's what we call democracy.
The majority is made up of the middle, jobless and working class people who are those most affected by corruption, insecurity, price hikes etc.
So don't give any power to the President, give power to the poorer majority so that the can use the President (a facilitator) to solve their problems.
Anything other than these is mere hypocrisy and waste of time. So we really need vote reform and www.votesizing.org sheds more light on this.

Do you know how many billion of people around the world who are not formally educated?
Do you know how many million are willing to get formal education but are unable because of corruption?
If you say formal education is the solution, I will say no!
The problems are:
1) that thing that prevents people from going to school
2) that thing found behind the minds of the educated who want to keep everything for themselves by discouraging others that until they get a sound formal education they will never be qualified to be like them.
These things/problems to my opinion are corruption and greed.
You don't need formal education to know that your stomach needs food, that you need to till the soil to live, that you need a clean environment to be in good health.
By the way, isn't it this formal education that is promoting climate change which Al Gore is fighting against?
Isn't it formal education the promotes the production and dangerous and biological weapons.
Please let's have a break and think about the Vote Sizing approach.

It say alot about the character of our country...we are supposed to be one of the richest countries in the world yet we have hundreds and hundreds of homeless people in our country...If our country focused more on our economy and food supply and less on other countries government then we would be able to solve our own problems
