Since Bill Belichick is a dirty, dirty cheat and does not carry the legendary stature of Don Shula, Don Shula wants any unbeaten run by the Patriots to carrry the infamous asterisk.
I think Don Shula's demand is pretty reasonable...

'72 Dolphins*.I have to disagree with you on this one. Belichick is well on his way to becoming a legend and if they go undefeated, the 2007 Patriots will go down in history as one of the best (if not The Best) in NFL history.
Regarding Spygate, Don Shula notes the seriousness or significance of what (the NFL) found, and cites the NFLs fines to support this but yet said nothing (like many others before him) that truly explains the significance of taping defensive signals from the sidelines.
Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports writes in the attached article, it isn't against NFL rules to film the coaches' signals from other areas of the stadium. I mean every week you see some quarterback on the sideline looking over high-angle photos of opposing defenses and calling audible at the line of scrimmage when he sees something in the defense that he recognizes; there's always an effort to understand more about the opposition. This, of course, isnt to condone cheating, but I honestly feel Spygate was sort of blown out of proportion and still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
While the incident against the New York Jets was in fact a disregard for the rules of the NFL as indicated by the league's penalty, to suggest putting an asterisk by what could be a 19-0 season is an indication of just how sore Don Shula could be if this happens. As a chief representative of the league's only undefeated team, this, what I consider to be a prime example of being sore, could serve as a huge disservice to the accomplishments of those '72 Dolphins. Already members of that team are trying to sweep the legs of the public's perception that their "annual celebration" is "pathetic" and "evil."
What Shula (and the nation of Patriots-haters) is so blatantly disregarding is that the Patriots are winning big and they absolutely found a way to win last Sunday against the second-best in the league and I believe will continue to do so until, of course, they meet the Tennessee Titans in the Playoffs.
Thats right, I said it. :)
