Cambodian Street Childrencheck out this other great pod on children in cambodia.

That made me cry a little, just think what the nations of the western world could do to help these children. I'm completely devastated.

And yet very little is being done about this.
If the 1st world countries of the world would stop thinking about the military and just focus on at least a little bit to help the 3rd world countries. That would at least be a start. But that isn't gonna happen, not for a long while.-

I am very concerned about this.. and it is making emotionally upset.
this gurl said in that video pod that she hopes that when she grows up,, she hopes that she can sing a song.
--
well.. I will tell you what.
You track that gurl down... and you get her friends together... and you tell her that her dream can come true.
--
It just so happens that I wrote the 3rd best poem last year in an internatinoal poetry competition.. it was published several times and put on CD and made into a techno song. I never got money,, cause i did it to spread the word...--
but it has the ability to make lots.. and I will allow these kids to make this into a song.. I know how to do it.. i just need help.
to hear a copy of the song we turned to techno..
go to:
www.myspace.com/luckasa
have your speakers on,, cause it plays automatically.
it is called FIX IT.
my vision is to have the poem read or sung.. and at the end.. have all the children yelling.. "FIX IT"
and maybe the gurl could sing it,, and all her friends and co-workers.. they could do the part that yells FIX IT at the end.
-- We will use all the money to build them a future.
we will build them houses by thewater and teach them to fish,, and build them real shelters with showers,, and the newest technology to use solar power.. and have it so they can live --
like i fish for food.. so,, it seems very easy to me.. but they will also have money from the profits of the song to have real store bought food, and educations.. and everything they need,, including medicine..
I own the copyright to the poem. even Noble House published it in the past.. but i own the copyright.. and I will allow these kids to make a fortune off it.
it was previously published to spread the word.. but now.. now it can really be bigger than that.
the award i won was a bronze coin,, for being 3rd best int he world.. -- i gave the coin to a group of French tourists in the USA.. they were from France.. i told them about it,, and we talked about global warming and that we had to try harder.. and then I gave them the coin,, as a sign of friendship.. and I thanked them for the statue of liberty. I never saw or talked to them again.. but i hope and pray they are alive and well.. we had no pen to exchange emails..
true story..
and without further a-due..
this is the poem it is all based on:
Fix It
earth spinning on its axis, while doing
circles around the sun as if it were prey.
with these affects, always, somewhere on
the planet it appears as if the sun is
always rising. night constantly falling!
points of perception.
day break! day constantly breaking into
tiny pieces of imagination, and when night
falls; it hits the earth in darkness.
truth. humans have created too many
weapons, too much destruction, too many
pollutants... and witnesses every day watch
the day break!
another broken day.
and "They" still don't have the time to
hear the tiny voices saying simple words...
"fix it"!

I can't imagine the immense responsibility each one of those children has. I'm afraid we will see stories like this in other parts of the world. Governments have to understand the long-term effects war has on society. Americans worry about the effects war has on returning veterans with good reason but are we even considering the long-term implications of waging wars in foreign countries?
-
You raise a good point.
It worries me also that little is being done about this.
This isn't the first time i've heard about it.
And the first time i did hear it when i myself was a kid, and it was about brazilian children who raise money selling candy to cars stopped in the lights.
It angers me that most countries don't do anything about this.-

It broke my heart to watch this. Its really hard to process how much we dont know about the rest of the world living in the US, the rest of the world suffers so much and we are all so oblivious.
How rediculous that the world continues to get worse instead of better. It is a comfort to know though that there is a promise in the Bible (Rev. 21:4, Is.35:5,6) that soon all sufferring and injustice will be done away with and everyone will have what they need. Combined with attempting not to contribute to the problem and this sure hope I cling to is what gets me through the day. -
Being a Cambodian-American, issues facing Cambodia strike close to my heart. Of course, I was born here, so it is impossible to say I know the "harsh realities" of life in over there.
Interestingly, this article made me sad in a way that everyone who commented probably overlooked. The blame for the working children seem to be somewhat attributed to the parents, who apparently stay home and ride motor bikes. What is left unsaid is that staying home and riding motor bikes are just as tedious as what they make their kids do. Knowing how the community thinks, they all want their children to grow up and be doctors, lawyers, anything that would get them out the abject poverty they live in, yet when faced with difficult financial times, all hands in the family need to help out. Notice that the sadness wasn't just on the faces of the children, but also the faces of the parents. I just want to point out that the parents are not monsters for making their children work--maybe it is because we come from America and our laws our different, but talking to my mother, it is culturally normal to have children work--now would they rather have their children go to school? of course. Please don't bash the parents and please keep this in mind when you film your next pod.

hey man,, i think it is kewl that you looked into it like that.
This is exactly why current.com was created.
-- to expand our reality to the truth.

I remember being a kid,, and wishing I coul dwork,, instead of go to school. I used to hate thinking that i had to sit in a school for 10 years.. just to go out into the real world.. to learn a skill in 5 days.. that i woul dhave to do for the rest of my life to earn money to eat and live and shelter.. etc.
I always wished i coul dhave started very young.. so by the time I was 20 years old.. I would have been in the prime of my life.. and been able to spend my money and have fun on the planet.
Instead.. i had to do as the government forces us.. and I am 33yrs old.. and still broke.. paying off student loans.. and wishing I started when I was 10 as opposed to waiting.
And when I did starte working at 16 and goign to school at the same time.. they paid me 4 dollars and 25 cents an hour.. and told me I was lucky,, and should be happy.. becasue they raised minimum wage by like 10 cents.
-- in america.. that is like saying...--- we will give you one Mcdonald's hamberger extra.. every ten hours you work.
And I WAS WORKING AT MCDONALD'S..
that is right.. we were not aloud to eat the food there for free.
now that is crazy.. right?
i dunno..
work more than a day.. to eat one hambergur.. and have to thank them for it.
ahahaha haahaha hahaahha'
well,, i am thankful for the exprience.. and the work ethic... but really.. it seemd ridiculous.
--
I guess I am jsut sad that anyone has to be poor.. be it me,, or some dude in antarctica...--
I realized a long time ago it was not about me,, and i would not wish my situation on others... at least the bad times..-- and it sadens me to see movies where people are living a crappy life.
-- when so manyrich people are around that don;t spend there money on helping,, and they earned the money by doing something totally bogus.
liek a super model get millions.. cause someone snapped their picture. -- that is not work.
i know.. cause i used to model for art schools... it is the furthest thing from work. *~*
anyway..-- to see so much potential,,and everyone in the media is totally wealthy... but no one does anything.. except a small handful.. like Bono from U2.-- good job Bono.. Bob Marley did some amazing things too,, helping out over 400 people,,and stoped a gang war in Jamaca.. at the Rainbow festival concert.. It was amazing.. he made the leaders shake each others hands on stage.-- he called them up.. when they did not listen.. BOB freaked out.. and lightening struck near the stadium.. -- minutes later.. they came on stage.-- Bob Marley is a very Holy man. He was given a ring... from BIBLICAL TIMES and everything.. he is very special.
so anyway.. the media looks at say.. BONO... shows how good he is.. and the rest of the celebraties ride on his coat tails.. when in fact.. they should be fired.. cause they cannot compete with Bono, and BOB.
I dunno..
you know what i mean?
I don;t want to pick on anyone.. you canpick any number of millionaires.. that are not in the spot light.. maybe they are worse.. becasue they are hiding.
i don't know.. but something has to change.
and I am glad you siad what you did.

Thanks man
-
sure thing.. but you are the one to be thanked.. for enlightening everyone.

Great piece, I hope as we evolve, people will be more drawn together by our similarities than pushed apart by our trivial differences and realize how infinite our potential is when we combine our knowledge and abilities. awareness is the first step so thank you both for your effort and compassion.
