On November 7, 2007, A container ship struck a tower of the Bay Bridge spilling 58,000 gallons of bunker oil into the San Francisco Bay. The following day, several Bay Area beaches were closed due to the spill. This pod takes us to the Bay Area coastline to see how the spill is impacting the wildlife and the people who frequent the coastal waters of San Francisco.

Celanup opportunities for Bay Area Oil SpillThere are many opportunities to get involved in cleanup efforts. While there are restrictions to what an untrained person can do in an oil-contaminated area, the community can nonetheless play an enormous role in restoring our shoreline and its habitats. So upsetting to see the animal carcasses...
We've spent 2 Sundays a month playing in the waves, surfing, building sand castles at Ocean Beach this summer/fall... appreciating the northern california beach scene for its rugged, cold BUT clean shores.

So sad for the animals and marine life that has been affected. Talk about gas prices to. As if we can afford to have an oil spill at $3.09 a gallon. WOW!
