  • bummer...i thought this was actually going to show the other side of the story...that speaker was just stating the obvious...

neither the studios nor the writers agendas give any consideration to the people below the line.

both sides use this same argument ...it is quite deceitful and disgraceful to draw attention away from the actual motives behind failed negotiations.

  • ifm - The 'other' side of the story is greed, corporate consolidation, and mega profits for a few. The studios don't want to play fair and share.

The producers/corporate reps would not sit down for an interview, what can one do......?

The sheeple are slowly starting to wake up - it's about time.

  • This in-house shit bites. Check out smorrisey for the real ethnography of this strike.

  • If they want to settle the strike quickly SAG shoud simply authorise the writers for ONE of the television networks to go back to work! Pick the weakest or second place network in the ratings (very machiavellian).
There will be instant interest in talking reasonable terms from the rest. The network that got the writers back will have to follow suit - can't imagine how they could avoid it.

  • I liked this pod.

You had a ton of great information in it about the cost of the strike and which exec-producers are striking in solidarity. And also with the footage about the related industries that are impacted.

I would have like to have seen some writers interviewed in the piece which would have made me identify with the problems of the strike more. Having some central characters -- I felt would have helped move the piece.

That said, the way you cut it with music and quick takeouts of the studios, the picket lines etc really did make it feel pretty lively.

Also, it was really good because it is newsy and the information about the financial impact really put the conflict and its impact in focus. It was clear from the pod that LA is hurting with the writers out walking.
