The oilocracy's dollar gusher has only just burgeoned, and, just as with an aquifer feeding an artesian well*, our pockets are emptying out at the same rate.

Next Stop: $100 OilCommodities traders are guessing that this is only the beginning. And with Bush's week dollar policy, it seems as if he's trying to drive us into the ground. How much irreversible damage does this man have to create on the planet before we get up and start fighting? I'm sittin here watching demonstrations break out across the world in Georgia, Pakistan, Myanmar, Malasyia and I'm wondering when we're gonna start here? Sorry, Ranting...

What really gets me is all the Bush bashing. I didn't vote for him, but it is just a little childish that all everyone seems to do is Bush bash. Its old and I am over it. Can we find something else to talk about or is the reason most come here is politically motivated? Its starting to look like a Bush roast and Bush wasn't invited. We would still be where we are now even if Bush had never been president. He is just our scapegoat for our lifestyle.

We can rant about Bush all we like, however, the reality is that over 50% of the US budget is spent on healthcare and that the Iraq war plays a small role. In reality, the war is giving the government a profit margin so that they can utilize the money made by this war to supplement the debt load that the US is carrying. I'm in no way defending the president for it. We can't really say that it's his war because it took a conglomerate of US Senators and Representatives to proceed on it. So don't blame a single man for a war, blame all who need to take the blame. If you're concerned about the US budget and where this country is going, take a look at Medicare Part D. This program was started almost 5 years ago to help pay for the prescription drugs. We are losing SSI benefits in the future because of that plan, but at the same time the benefit is that the elderly are getting taken care of on their medications. So this is the dilemma, do we take care of ourselves or do we take care of our parents and grandparents. The oil debate needs to come to a halt and we need to look at how the 50 percent of our annual budget is being used.

ajbushey, In Reality your figures are wrong. Half the budget on health care? Very Wrong. The Government making a profit on the war? So then why are we borrowing billions from China? Yes, we can call it Bush's war. He is the one that got the intelligence reports and twisted them and lied us into the war. Damned right it's his war. About Part D Medicare. He allowed the drug companies to write the program and agreed to the no bargaining (Like the VA Does) with the drug companies on prices. Because he would like to destroy Social Security. His Business Professor said he is dull witted and said in college Bush wanted rid of Social Security. The price of oil is exactly where he and his oil buddies want it to be. We are going to be in Iraq forever. The troops will be reduced as soon as they sign over 75% of their oil to Exxon, Chevron, Shell, Mobil, and BP. NOT to our government to the private corporations. That is why we attacked a country that was no threat to us. Next we are going to go after Iran's oil. Now get yourself a government budget pie chart.

Kudos to The French President for waving the American flag and our history of high moral character!!
Many thanks to him for reminding us who WE are!
I supported attacking Iraq initially because of the propaganda feed us by the media. I also realized a person like Sadam wasn't going to build hospitals for children in Iraq, but build weapons for waging war.
What strikes me now, is that Bush isn't building hospitals either, and we are spending an insane amount of money on building weapons and waging war.
I use the term "hospital" as a metaphor.
Let me possess this question: If it is possible to lead the world by example (as we have in the last several hundred years), why do we need to force them by waging war?
The US is not making money on this war, it is costing us money. We borrow the money we don't have because teh administration allows US companies to move manufacturing to impoverished countries (at the expense of tax payers and US jobs) only to be allowed to import the garbage back to America and still charge essentially the same price - without protecting the United States of America financially.
Don't forget, we are borrowing from China and other countries, money they earned selling to us.
It doesn't stop there, al this garbage we get from China, it's not imported by the Chinese, it's made and imported for by US and other companies. If any ones to be blamed, it's the US companies profiting from cheap Chinese production.
So, the question is why did the powers that be, want to weaken the United States and it's people?
Historically, the role of our government was to protect our economy from undeveloped nations flooding our markets (as they have been and do now) with tariffs.-
