I turned out to vote, but there was no one else there. Even the election officials seemed embarrassed. It's sad that it was not a real election but more a plea of "no contest"....
I've lived in the City-by-the-Bay for over 30 years and am a California native.
More and more it's being over-run by "people who call someplace else... "home". They say their from New York, Wisconsin, Boston, Texas.... but it's as if they have no real vested interested here. By escaping to San Francisco, do they really believe they can cocoon here and not be involved?
I love San Francisco's tolerance and open mindedness but... apathy?
It's a terrible disappointment, if you now reside here and you can't be bothered enough.... to vote.

I voted in 2004. I would have voted in 2000, but the voter registration office claimed that they lost my registration papers; however, since the voter registration office did not offer receipts, there was no proof that I registered, and therefor it was not the fault of the voter registration office.
Oddly enough I put my political party as independent in 2004 instead of democrat like I did in 2000, and it went right through without a hitch.

Though I do not think that it should come to this, Perhaps the government, both local and national, should take more drastic means to encourage people to vote. I can all but guarantee that if voting offered some kind of minor tax break, people would flock in to cast their vote.
But I repeat, I do not think that it should come to that. I think that the public should be willing and eager to cast their vote without that kind of incentive.
