Written by Chris Durang at Huffington Post: And I liked the person (I forget who) who suggested Al Gore and Chuck Hagel should run together. I have not digested, I admit, the conservative social policies of Hagel, but I think he is brilliant on the folly of the Iraq war, and he's been right about it since the beginning. As has been true of Russell Feingold, another stellar senator

Sigh. I may have to just have a psychotic break, and live in an alternative universe where Al Gore gets elected president and Chuck Hagel magically tones down some of his domestic conservativism and is elected vice president.
And the two of them reclaim America's ability to talk with countries and not dictate to them. And America can start to heal again. Maybe.
Ah. But that's an alternative universe.

May ah, it's not too late, One lonely voice can make a difference. Al Gore could make a difference, he could rock the world! New direction for America, 'United States of America' could have meaning again, 'United' to heal!

  • Oh if only :( Unfortunately I think Al's new job has put a damper on the draft. Too bad, would have been phenomenal! I am not giving up totally but am switching some energy to impeachment. I was trusting that a Gore administration would see the import of enforcing our laws even after the fact so I was happier focusing on positive future driven endeavors but if it is not Al Gore is not in office I don't think it matters who is. If these criminal acts are allowed to stand our democracy is lost. I too think Hagel would be a good choice for VP. Conniepae - are you who we think you are or does your icon picture just change for fun (my mom is thrilled, hope I did not mislead her, tempted not to correct the assumption if so). :)

  • I doubt I am who you think I am. Sounds like it would be good if I were. :)

  • I was referring to one of the pictures you have posted as your icon. Very distinguished looking, very blue eyes, actor, lives in CT. I believe? No? I haven't figured out how to post my icon yet. :) :Love your posts!

  • Sad to say, the person you describe is not I. I’m not really recognizable; I’m just One Lonely Voice living in Cleveland. I enjoy posting; it has supplied me an outlet for my frustration. Thanks for the complement. I get so frustrated when people just won’t listen. Most of my family thinks I’m too concerned. I can’t understand that they care more about American Idol than what is going on in America. Many people don’t have time to listen to anything more than mainstream media. Plus, if you haven’t read it on the Internet, you don’t understand, mainstream media no longer investigate, they report. They report two sides as equal even though one is telling you the world is flat and the other is saying no it’s not, I can prove it. Mainstream media doesn’t require anyone to prove it. They just spin the facts they choose. They no longer are required to report the truth; they are allowed to misrepresent facts. If I were running for office, I think that would be one of my campaign issues. Accountability should start somewhere. If mainstream media would be held accountable for what they say, there would be much less spin. Americans would get news like we used to, TRUSTED NEWS. I don’t think anyone actually trust the news anymore. They just pick which stories make them feel better. Many people use TV for relaxation. Unfortunately, I’m not one of them. The reality shows, the competitive shows (American Idol, Dancing With the Stars…) don’t work for me. I don’t have desires that extend to wanting to judge someone else. I don’t want to know who’s better than someone else is. Winners or loser’s judged by other people has diminished compassion. Americans seem to be less compassionate now.

  • Hi, I understand your frustration. I have two ends of the spectrum, mom gets it, but gets depressed, husband thinks I'm an alarmest even though he get it. The in-laws on the other hand are neocons! I do hope you watch Countdown with Kieth Olberman on MSNBC, live at 8pm and repeated at 12 midnight. If not, please do! It will make you feel much better. Boy does he get it and he spends a whole hour exposing the lies. Great guests too! So why did you have Paul Newmans picture on your icon!?

  • Malrn, not sure about the Paul Newman icon? The only icon I have for my posts is, 'dog ate my icon'. Yes, I watch Keith Olberman every night. He is one of my hero's. Jon Stewart is excellent also. Sure miss the Daily Show. My family get's it, they just think I am kind of foolish to think I can do anything about it. I understand their views, but I have to try. I post when I can to get it out of my system. Helpless is hard to accept. Too many people accept the lack of accountability. Wrongs don't even have to be hidden anymore. Things are done in plain sight, people are struggling, they don't have time or energy to do anything. And, the one's that aren't struggling, don't want to rock their boat, not realizing if things don't change it will rock all our boats. It will possibly sink us.

  • I think some of the reason may have to do with the overmedication of the populus with antidepressants. Makes you much more compliant about everything and the use of them for normal ups and downs is huge! Just a thought!

  • malrn, you are so right. Have you heard the statistics as to how many people are taking antidepressants? Watch the commercials, "are you depressed"? How can you be in America today and not be depressed? We are at war. Go shopping sounds good, just not very realistic. I have another thought as to why people are changing. Al Gore hit it in his book "Assault on Reason", TV. I don't watch the reality shows, or the ones that let's you be judged by the masses, letting everyone think they have power, judgement. If people really wanted to judge something they would judge the course we're on as destructive to our freedom and liberty and work to change things. Unfortunately, I think that's why mainstream media does not cover real topics, people are to shallow and to many time constraints to see beyond mainstream media. Plus, during the 2000 campaign, George W. Bush's campaign was caught inserting a subliminal message into a campaign ad. I don't know if anyone is monitoring for subliminal messages? Or, if the spin by mainstream media is enough subliminal messaging in itself?
