One word. EWE.
"Used condoms are being recycled into hair bands in southern China, threatening to spread sexually-transmittable diseases they were originally meant to prevent, state media reported Tuesday."
"People could be infected with AIDS, (genital) warts or other diseases if they hold the rubber bands or strings in their mouths while waving their hair into plaits or buns," the paper quoted a local dermatologist who gave only his surname, Dong, as saying.

Well, are you in favor of recycling or not?
-
I dont buy it. Wouldnt any kind of recycling involve processes that would kill the original bacteria? Unless they're just picking them out of the trash and re-using them, which I doubt.

Dammit! I thought you said "One word. Uwe [Blab]"http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/blabuw01.html -
I mean, also it begs the question of what do you do with YOUR hairbands ... ?
-
FYI, Uwe's name is actually pronounced "Oo-vay."

Now I'm just wondering this, how broke are these companies in China? LOL. I guess as broke as one of these condoms after a good use. I guess taboos are kind of like lays, betcha can't eat just one, or is it betcha can't break just one. Someone had better give QA and QC a damn good audit!!! LOL.

I don't know whats worse: Wearing used condoms or people who think wearing condoms as hairbands is cool.
-
1.3 billion people in China they really need to use these somewhere besides their hair, even if they have to reuse them....

Wow, what a misunderstood or misinterpreted news article. The original release is here:
http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5j0DcqENG9L1Z3TnL94D...
and no one named 'Dong' is in it but there is a legit city called "Dongguan"
Please read another article for the full story:
