This story poses such an important idea. So many young teens fall victim to depression, which is very common and in many cases fleeting, due to harrassment from their peers. I had a group of girlfriends who would collaborate to hurt me throughout the years I befriended them. I still have trouble to this day making friends with girls and trusting them. I became so depressed and would lock myself in my room crying, wondering why I was unliked. I don't know why some make it through these years and others don't, but I know some action must be taken to make sure both children and their parents know how much they are affecting this world and how they can positively use that power.

I know a couple of mothers who would do something like this - create a fake myspace account and all that - and I think its incorrigible. If your fourteen year old is having an issue with another fourteen year old, they need to work it out amongst themselves. Posing as a kid to gain the confidence of someone your child is mad at is SOOOO wrong! But I think what really, truly pissed me off here is the fact that the family doesn't feel 'as guilty' because of perceived previous suicide attempts. WTF people?!? That's even more wrong than the original act. Is this the mentality of middle-class America? Were these people neglected or dropped on their heads as children?? Take ownership of your mistake, as huge and terrible as it is, because only you are to blame. omg, this is going to eat at me all week....
