Baggy pants are ok. Try telling a circus clown his baggy pants are against the law. All that room is great for your parts, male or female. Tight pants are so uncomfortable. I think the young trendy crowds call it camel toe. It may be considered sexy by some, but thats why we have choices...Baggy pants are another choice in the land of the free! Choices are great. Chocolate, Strawberry, and Vanila are so Neapolitain...
If you were on a cruise ship and fell over board in the ocean your baggy pants could save your life. You slip out of them and tie each leg off at the end. Then blow air into the pant legs. This large pair of baggy pants has just become your lifejacket. It really works. You tie the waste shut with your sox, and the pant legs shut with the other sox that you tear in half. You wrap the pants around your neck and under your arms. The croch area becomes a headrest/headfloat, and the legs become side floats. When the air leaks out, you blow it back up. You can survive a long time with baggy pants!...
Baggy pants are not bad. I like baggy pants. Carpenters, plumbers, farmers and house painters have been wearing them for years. Even the NBA uniforms since the mid 1980's have consisted of baggy shorts! Some consider this switch a great improvement from the short short of the early years.....(which is another debate....)
However, pants worn below the butt crack are another story. If your underwear is hanging out, and your crack is exposed, you need to get some help with your wardrobe. People shouldn't have to see your crack unless they ask you to show it to them.
I remember as a college student I had a course in Abnormal Psychology. During the chapters dealing with pschopathology, the concept of Abnormality was critically defined inorder to fully understand the criteria used to define abnormal behavoir. The understanding of what is the norm, or what is away from the norm, along with statistical frequency of behavoir accepted as normal vs. abnormal in society's view creates standards. These standards then set the generally acceptable view of behaviors that collectively make up what is considered to be a normal or adjusted person. Everyone else falls into to the abnormal group....
Every society has subcultures, that within the larger society create their own normal or abnormal behaviors. In one society a certain displayed behavior is normal while in another it may be abnormal. In my society, wearing your butt crack exposed is considered abnormal, or maladaptive. However, these individuals with his/her pants low enough to show off his/her crack like seeing each others cracks. To them it is adaptive and normal behavior. Great...
This is why it is difficult in characterizing what behavior is normal and what is not. In brief, I remember the picture in the psychology book showing a man standing at the bus stop with his pants down low enough to show off his crack, The caption defined him as "deviant".
I never forgot that image. Today I encounter this display as fashion. I don't like seeing crack, but baggy pants are great. I want baggy pants to be left alone, just go after the person forcing me to view his/her butt crack. Truck drivers need more baggy pant for that matter....
One more thing, if you want to work at a fast food counter, I don't want to see your crack. Show it to your friends after work. You are not my friend. My friends don't show me their crack.....before, during, or after work.
Let us get this debate defined correctly, baggy pants are great. Wearing them is not a crime.
Policy makers need to go after the unwanted public displays of butt crack.
