Considering the rising costs of US healthcare and the inadequacies of our current medical system in handling them, the international outsourcing of medical care is a very real prospect....for those who can afford to get there.

    • I live along the border in California and have been to the dentist in Mexico. It costs roughly a quarter of what a dentist would cost this side of the border with the quality being just as good. I used to live in Australia and the cost there was also about a quarter of the cost here. Are we to believe that the fillings in America are four times as good, hence four times the cost? The cost of healthcare in the U.S. is atrocious. We are actually the laughing stock for much of the first world. People in the health biz know that if universal health coverage were made available, the market would be flooded and the niche market that they had enjoyed for so long would be gone. Affordable healthcare means less profits for the heath industry. As usual in America, business supercedes the good of the people. How ironic that we uphold the idea of laizze faire in healthcare,but not for warfare.

    • I have a friend here in Oregon who flies home to Mexico to get dental work. Even paying $400 for airfare he saves about $500 on a root canal.

      Goes to show how much money is WASTED here, also how greedy doctors/dentists are.

    • I live in San Diego about 5 miles away from the border. After losing my health insurance, I started going to a dentist my mom had been going to. She did a really great job with my fillings. In fact, she helped me get over my fear of going to the dentist that I got from my experiences with the ones I saw here.

      Although it would be very hard to implement for everyone, I think that this is a good idea and should be considered as a part of the solution in fixing our healthcare system.

      I definitely can't afford to fly to other countries to see a doctor. Guess I just gotta not get sick.
