I'm leaning towards John Edwards

And basically there are two main reasons currently why:// I like his stance regarding the climate crisis, and I like that he seems genuine regarding his concern for working Americans and lifting up the lower and middle classes. However, I would like to hear him state (unless he did and I missed it) that he would do more to rescind the Patriot Act and do away with unitary executive power. I also have to read up more on his healthcare plan as I am for single payer, but am willing to look at other plans that hopefully bring competition to lower costs without compromising quality. And I state this as someone who is down on the political system as a whole but realizes that I must still do my duty and vote and also hope. Therefore, at this point I am leaning towards John Edwards, though I am also very impressed with Dennis Kucinich and his courage in standing up for impeachment and his views on trade. The next couple of months leading into the spring will be the deciding factor for me, and also the climate change presidential forum Mr. Gore is putting together in NH next month that I am really looking forward to. And just to explain, even though I am leaning towards John Edwards in this election cycle, Al Gore will always be in my heart and have my full support in whatever he does. So if you are leaning now towards one particular candidate, let's discuss why here and what you want from them. I think it's time they heard us.

  • I haven't found his position on the Patriot act or the Private Military. I'm very sure anyone with his strong sense of right and wrong they will be fixed out of existance. He is not for privatizing.

  • Hello Ms. Gore,
If Vice-President Al Gore publicly announces his decision on whom the President should be, all of us who believe in Al Gore will give our votes to Senator Edwards. Al Gore is my hero because he finally woke people up about Global Warming. I personally admire Mr. Gore because of his passion, dedication and hard work at trying to save the planet.
    Sincerely,

  • I'm for Edwards. He seems to have a very wholistic frame of mind--he sees the dots and connects them. I have been watching him, reading his speeches and interviews.Don'f forget that the stolen democratic ticket in '04 included two people: One was Al Gore. The other of course was John Edwards. I want Al to endorse John. What do you think?

  • Well jan I think we have some thing to agree on Edwards is the man to take the fight for global warming to washington and if he can get the backing of Gore Im sure that will go a long way to help his chances. I also am a fan of Obama and think that him and Edwards should anounce as front runners with simmilar plans that which ever one takes the primaries that they will invite the other to run with them as vice president.

I believe he voted for it, and I don't particularly like that. I actually liked Dennis Kucinich's answer in the last debate when responding to not voting for it by saying "that's because I actually read it." Even John Conyers in Fahrenheit 911 admitted that bills are many times not even read before they are voted on! I can understand to a point that at that time the country was grieving because of 9.11, but to me that is the one time when vigilance against those who would seek to take advantage of that grief must be maintained, and in the case of the Patriot Act that did not happen. So if he announces he will work to rescind it if elected that would go a long way to making me lean further towards him.

I am not a Gore though I thank you for the compliment
;-). And I agree with your comment wholeheartedly. I do not know if he is thinking of endorsing anyone in the primaries, and perhaps the climate change presidential forum he is putting together in NH will help him decide if he is... I do however hope that if he does endorse someone it will be John Edwards, but again, that has to be his choice and decision.

I would like for him to endorse John Edwards as well, but if he doesn't endorse anyone I will understand, though I do think it would give John Edwards a much needed push in this proces to counter those who have the corporate money behind them. I also like Mr. Edwards's stance on nuclear and liquid coal, so I hope if Mr. Gore does endorse anyone he will take that into account.

yes, and this is what we need. Someone on the inside, with Mr. Gore using his resources out here to bring about that change in consciousness. Although, I don't think Obama is against nuclear and has come out for liquid coal. I don't agree with that stance at all.

  • I'm voting for John Edwards. He seems to get the global warming crisis more than the other candidates and I know he will work hard to end the corrupting lobbyi$t influence on our politicians. I also like his stance on health care, education, lifting people up from poverty and securing the middle class. This guy is our FDR of this generation!

  • Plus he is recently endorsed by Friends of the Earth. That's huge! I haven't seen any other major environmental organization endorse a candidate besides John.
