The newest study of the most dangerous American cities gives Detroit the number one slot. Taking over St. Louie, this is another sad blow to a city reeling from a slumbering car industry that is adding to their tarnished image.

The PublisherCQ Press, a unit of Congressional Quarterly has come under fire for these annual crime reports. The FBI, police departments and other criminal officials groups have criticized the report, calling it "an irresponsible misuse" of crime data. -

Meltsne1, you live in michigan, therefore you should know about Detroit's image. Don't pretend like you arent aware.
As a Detroit resident (born and raised), this is not something that is new to ANYONE in michigan. However, what is sad that most people, because of fear, havent even been to detroit. Tigers fans have never been to a game, pistons fans travel AROUND detroit(which is kind of hard to do if you are coming from the north)....I am not protecting detroit, nor am i bashing the city i love and hate, but i wish someone would develop and produce a story that explains how detroit came to where it is now. Then people would realize that it is not necessarily our fault.
BTW, Crime in detroit is the result of several types of discrimination (economic housing racial(often caused by the government) ) reaching far back as the beginning of the auto industry boom. -
It's funny, I've lived in Arizona and Chicago and every time I say I'm from Detroit, which I'm not but no one knows where YPSILANTI is, people say, "Oh man, that's freakin' crazy."
