  • The Spencer quote says it all. I grew up in a world where you had to struggle to get a reward. The puny kids didn't get picked for kick ball teams and only the best in the class got an award. We dealt with a world that wasn't perfect, and our parents just told us to deal with it. No excuses. As a result, we work hard, play hard and savor as much of life as possible. I couldn't believe Ms. Parente could make the statements she made with a straight face. The "target audience" knows way more than she does about what the world is really like.
