Sisterz of the Underground is a hip-hop collective in San Francisco that is dedicated to women who actively participate in the scene. These girls get down on the mic and dance floor but it isn't all fun and games. Operating this group takes time and energy but it's definitely worth it as you'll see in this Scene pod.

There's point at which one the "artists" mentions the hip-hop cultural values of acceptance and non violence. This seems contradictory to mainstream hip-hop which has as its core values misogyny, extreme violence, extreme materialism, theft, general criminality as an accepted way of life--just to name a few. I think this woman is a little off base. Go to Itunes and check the songs and lyrics of the top ten selling hip-hop albums. Then come back here and talk to me about acceptance and non-violence and the "vaiues" of hip-hop.

This is the best short doc I've seen on women's breakdancing in a long time. Love it! Props to you for having a quality visual piece!
