George Bush and Nouri al-Maliki signed an agreement that would pave the way for US forces to stay in Iraq for a long time - at least another year, but perhaps longer.
So regardless of who wins in November, Bush appears to be doing his darndest to keep us in Iraq despite what the public and the incumbent might want.

This like a duh, we knew we weren't going to leave Iraq any time soon.

We have to stay. We need a base from which to attack Iran, and to run the Middle East. We built all those bases and that lovely huge Vatican embassy built by our great good Haliburton using slave labor. Why in the world would we give all that up? We don't want it? Fine George and Dick with their huge private military will run things from Dubai using the abandoned bases and embassy. Don't like that? So what our military is beat down to exhaustion, and poorly equipped. Blackwater, etc., is not. Does anyone else wonder where the six nuclear warheads are?
