Politicians aren't paying attention to issues that young people consider important because we don't vote.

I agree! Young people need to turn out in massive droves. If you don't, it means you agreed with Bush's war, huge student loan interests, and not taking any action on global warming.
I don't believe that's where most young people are today.
We have been told over and over again by the big media that our votes don't make a difference. (That it's the older age groups that make a difference. Bullshit!) That's just what powerful lobbyist interests want you to believe. They want us to defeat ourselves so that they don't have to.
I also believe that they underestimated us to their peril. We will see a huge tidal wave of turnout this election because young people get it. We're in deep shit. From the war, to student loans, to the national debt, to our job prospects, we get it! Things are f*#@'d up.
And we just won't take it any more.-
