I think most people would agree that this is very unjustified. The poor girl is going to have to live the rest of her life with such a horrible memory and with constant insecurity. If she was a virgin before the rape occured; she will now have to deal with the humiliation of explaining this attack to any future romantic partners!

This is a very old story about religion. The only question is why we still tolerate this dogma after the age of enlightenment.

this is insanely wrong. i understand the whole culture aspect of it and even though i don't agree with it i will have to respect it. hyperpepper brought up a good point about future partners. my sister was raped when she was young and when she was older. the second time she was raped her boyfriend at the time broke up with her because she was "used." when she went to the police they thought she was crying rape because she had a boyfriend and they were sexually active. the cheif of police went on tv and called her a liar about the first rape and the second rape. now thanks to them her first rapest knows where we live and where she works. the police tell us they cant to anything because there is no evidence. im glad the young woman is taking her case further.

This is pathetic. Since when does minor things like being with a man before you get raped mean any importance. Come on society wake up and smell the coffee. This poor woman deserves the protection and justice that isn't being given to her. The rapists should all be punished in the harshest of ways. And regardless of the cultural aspects of it Saudi Arabia should have the decency and human heart to help that woman. That's all pathetic Saudi Arabia.

Middle-eastern culture is mind-boggling. As an American, this whole situation seems so unorthodox, however in the place of occurrence it seems to be justifiable and normal. I looked further into this, and apparently being with a non-relative man she should have received 19 lashes. I think it's absurd that she's to receive 200 lashes for being raped by SEVEN men. Does the Saudi Arabian government feel no pity?
