Certainly, all those guys saying that we need stronger borders must be against breaking into other countries, too.

I suppose what angers me so much about this topic is the self-righteous attitude of people who vehemently support the illegal entry of folks into the US. My disagreement with them doesn't demonize me, and I'm SO tired of being called an asshole for calling undocumented workers illegal aliens. Those borders are there for a reason, and they ought to be respected.
    Great vid, thanks!

    this is for you....

    wow... you are completely right!

because when the pilgrims came, they acted like they owned the place.

and that right there resulted in genocide of the natives.

    crazy

what the pilgrims did was actually not connected to the genocide of the natives - that would be Columbus and the Taino on the island of Hispaniola. Its essentially irrelevant here, however, because its a comparison of apples and oranges. If the native groups had a standing army, or laws forbidding unauthorized entry into their territories, not to mention the power to back up their laws, we could honestly compare the two.
The way things are now, one must go through a process to gain citizenship. This is true for the US, for Mexico, and pretty much every country on the globe. When someone ignores the process and illegally enters a country, they are in a position of danger of deportation. This is true of the US, of Mexico, and pretty much every country on the globe. If a government grants complete amnesty to everyone who subverts the process, then what is the point of having the process? If a government rewards those who break the law instead of prosecuting them, what does that say to the people who followed the law? I have no problem with legal immigration, and believe that our borders should be open - there's a process that needs to be respected, however, and I shouldn't be treated like crap for believing that.

    Oh hell no.
See it's people like you that make this world so much harder to live in.
I want so see your white ass pick grapes for twelve hours and get paid .30 and hour.
I want to see your white ass live in Mexico with a college degree and realize that even that isn't enough.
In case you've been liviung under a damn boulder for the past 150 years, we have been walking into other countries and acting like we owned the place since this country exhisted!
See, you people don't get it.
It's the fact that most of us can't get ahead in Mexico.
If Mexico was more like the US things would be a lot easier.
And until the US snaps out of it and tries to help us, no maximum securty boarder will keep us out.
    We always find a way.

I have rewritten this response four times now. I want to be civil but its really difficult.
Where is the Mexican patriotism in this statement? Because I see it every time there's a protest, every time I look at a store that offers money wiring services or phone cards, etc etc. Either Mexico is a horrible place that people are dying to get away from, or its a wonderful place that everyone should want to live in. Which is it? If you want Mexico to be more like the US, then get involved and make it that way! Jettisoning your populations is not going to fix Mexico's economic problems, and neither is more aid from the US, because in case _you've_ lived under a boulder, aid has been going into Mexico for over a century. Perhaps instead of blaming the United States for protecting its borders you should be asking Presidente Fox where all the money is going? Its not America's fault that Mexico is in the position its in, so shift the blame back where it belongs, please, and initiate change from within instead of without.
That's my two cents at any rate.
