  • It breaks my heart to hear stories like this. No one should ever have to live like this. Why isn't anything being done?

Bush? Cheney? Where are you resolutions?

  • Check out this pod on the use of meth in gay culture and how it has helped the spread of AIDs in some communities...

  • Yes, this man's story is heart-breaking, but he sounds resourceful enough to take himself out of his situation. Is it others' responsibility to help him when he is the only one who can fix the problem? His first and probably most important aspect for change is his drug addiction. Someone can come along and provide shelter and food for him, but he will most likely go back to the streets for drugs.

  • Wait, I definitely thought we were talking about Canada.... so why do Bush or Cheney have anything to do with it?

  • Exactly!! I didn't want to call them out but you did it for me! Vancouver, British Columbia ...Canada.

  • Great storytelling! The trading sex for money statement really took me off guard.

  • is this guy "resourceful" or did he make a lifestyle choice and is now advertising with this clip? which of course would make him quite "resourceful" since now he can easily be located by interested parties.

  • WTF? Why are people feeling sorry for this guy?
He even says it himself, that he knew the time was coming when he was going to be kicked out of where he was living.

He is a grown man, and made those decisions on his own. If he chose to move in to a tree stump, then heck, let him live in a tree stump. He decided to do meth and get hook, that was his choice. He performed oral sex for money, good for him.

Society today feels sorry for all these people that make their own decisions and then lands them in some real bad situations, like this guy.

I don't care if people think I sound mean. But in life we all have our choices, make our decisions and live with the consequences of those decisions, and this guy has done just that.

He will live on that tree stump until he gets kicked out from there or he decides to better himself and his way life.

  • I believe normality is subjective and on the pod he didn't seem to bad off except the guilty conscious that was in his mind. I take my hat off to his commitment to that life and if he would like to change, he can find salvation in a treatment ceconsciousnter. Surely there is public treatment available?

  • This story was heart wrenching, but I know all of these decisions are his own. Not all drug addicts return to the streets after treatment. That's a little stereotypical don't you think? He seems fine with his surroundings so I think he should be left alone until he can find his own path to redemption.

  • I needed to watch this pod twice to really think about how to respond to this man's situation. He's made choices in his life that have contributed to where he's at, however, he has the advantage of being in a relatively safe and warm space every night. Sadly, his story is one of too many, but he has the benefit of "sustenance and covering," whereas so many do not. Wouldn't it be fantastic if everyone in need had a tree stump to go home to instead of a sidewalk?

  • That was a really well made pod. The guy is so eloquent, or maybe it's the editing that's so good. His life is not terrible. He gets to live in nature...he seems like he's doing relatively OK and is at peace with himself. That's what struck me about him -- he seems so calm and self-aware.

  • awesome pod it was fantastico
  • good pod, but the guy is trading sex for money.. but is still able to (appears to) be rolling a joint at the end of the pod..? maybe he grew it or traded for it.. i think it's a good pod, but maybe there's a want of attention from the creator...

  • it tells me that after a hard windfall, the stump still is in good condition, I have been to it to see if all is ok, i am the original finder of the stump, but i did not chose to live in it for too long. recently, the stump seems to be abandonned with loads of merch inside and outside the old dead tree

  • Sorry to say, but this podcast was about a homeless bum. At first, I thought it was neat documentation of a naturalist living in a tree....but then it took a comical downturn. Not only does he live in a tree, but he's a 'prostitute' when he's not scavenging for food or smoking reefer. Yea, a real heartbreaking story - this wouldn't even be news if he didn't live in a tree. Like I said, this was about a homeless bum and nothing more.

The sinister downturn with the slow leaking of personal details was great comedy though.
  • His house is sick I would live there, but the meth has to go

  • Dropping out, off the beaten path...there are others like him.
