There goes the first amendment... They are slowly taking apart the Constitution piecemeal.

Excerpt:

The end of Free Speech in America has arrived at our doorstep. It's a new law called the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act, and it is worded in a clever way that could allow the U.S. government to arrest and incarcerate any individual who speaks out against the Bush Administration, the war on Iraq, the Department of Homeland Security or any government agency (including the FDA). The law has already passed the House on a traitorous vote of 405 to 6, and it is now being considered in the Senate where a vote is imminent. All over the internet, intelligent people who care about freedom are speaking out against this extremely dangerous law.

  • Yeah, we're screwed.

  • This sounds as crazy as it sounds dangerous. Surely with such constant negative press attention then a large proportion of the US population will be eligible for some jail time?

Click the link for some info on the debate over thought crimes a little closer to home. A great insight into the UK punishments for 'lyrical terrorism.'

  • Wouldn't questions about the Constitution be appropriate questions for our Presidential Candidates? Any candidate, Republicand or Democrat should be willing to answer questions about the Constitution. They should be asked if they agree with actions being taken to weaken it?

  • I don't know if any of you have seen this video, but it is a very compilation of all the major lies in our society and the direction it heads in. It's done excellently and it starts off by attacking the church, then claiming 911 was an inside job and a possible negative future.

In fact, the short video in the comment above is taken from this one.

  • this is ridiculous. but the sad part is that, because of the way it is stated, some americans may see this as a way of protecting the nation. some americans may want this. this is a serious problem and we must shed light on what the government really means and it has nothing to do with national security. more to do with control.

  • It's a sad day for liberty, indeed!

But anyone who reads history knows it's been coming for a long, long time.

I guess this means the end of meaningful dialog and debate on the Internet. Nothing left to do now but look at pr0n.

And if that article isn't bad enough for you, watch this video of Ms Naomi Wolfe telling it like it is.

I will be very surprised if we even have a presidential election in '08
  • This is precisely why we must support the Constitutional protection to bear arms so that we have the ability to rise up in revolution of the corruption of our government. Our fore-fathers who wrote the constitution and the bill of rights saw the potential for our government to be hijacked by homegrown terrorists like the current bunch of radicalized ideological bigots controlling the White House.

This news makes it even more compelling that yet another Civil War is in store for the United States of America. The country is divided into two groups, those who live by fear and those live fearlessly. The fear group is threatened by terrorism, fears death and chaos, is willing to give up all their freedom for protection and security, and probably has some apocalyptic vision of the future for our planet, while those who live fearlessly are not threatened by terrorism, seek to engage the enemy in dialogs that promote respect and mutual trust, are not afraid to die for their freedom, have a hopeful vision of the future of our planet where all people are treasured individuals with rights equal to those of the most powerful corporations or governments in the world.

  • This bill passed in a LAND SLIDE because the speaker pushed it through with special legislation that didn't require a debate on this bill. The bill is now S1959 and is going to the floor of the senate this week. TELL YOUR SENATORS TO VOTE NO!.. This is one more nail in the coffin the people in charge are sealing up our constitution and burying it. Consider yourselves all enemy combatants if this passes. Indefinite detention + torture anyone?! God bless America.
