I hope there is a way to check to see that all the money changing hands at these expensive events actually makes it to those who need it the most. And, not just money. The poor of this world are looking for ways to pull themselves up and live with dignity. It isn't just about money.

Great. Let them pay. Why not?

I didn't say they shouldn't. I'm just tired of reading all these articles about all these millions supposedly being raised by the rich and beautiful to help the poor and still seeing more and more poor in our world. Asking if it is going to where it is supposed to be going then seems like a valid question to me even if you don't think so. And my point also was that those in our world struggling in poverty we can't even imagine need more than money. They need opportunity, education, and a way to work themselves that will give them a sense of pride and dignity and a chance to themselves be a part of the solutions. Throwing money at them to keep them dependant on us is not what many of them want. And I am sure that many will also become rich from investing in alternate energies now to solve this climate crisis, but how many of them will be single mothers living in squalor in Bangladesh who have to work in fields 17 hours a day for fifty cents which is all they have to feed their children? So I think the question is very valid.

I don't think you are seeing more and more poor in our world. Even in the developing world most people's living standard today is much higher than it was, say, 50 years ago.
And just because a rich person cannot help everyone doesn't mean he shouldn't try to help someone.
Even one is better than nothing. -
Really? I'll then wait for you to post those statistics.
