Powersharing The Economical Way

The EU is considering spending £5m on lining the Mediterranean desert shores with giant solar power stations.
They are aiming to funnel the power gained into Europe and Britain by using underwater cables.
This is estimated to provide Europe with enough electricity to power 1/6 of their energy needs.
They also hope to chop carbon emmissions by using this process.
This means that countries with lots of open desert are going to ripe for the picking, so to speak.
Does this mean their economies might flourish as a result?

  • I hope so! I love it when the E.U comes up with interesting ideas but I hate it when they try and decide on them.

Eddie Izzard explains this fairly well....

  • it means there's going to be more war for control of the territory.
    hah jk.
    hopefully not.
It really is a brilliant idea.
I just hope that they can pull it off more gracefully than anything the bush administration would try to do.

  • Spencer, your response was brilliant. I'm still laughing right now about it. And yes, solar power is definitely a power source that needs to be tapped on a much wider scale, as does wind power.

  • LOL. Eddie Izzard is always a good laugh. THanks for that. At any rate I think EU is kickking USA butt on future energies. It is a great idea as long as everyone can get along with it as Ssppeenceerr says. jeez ...a few extra letters there spence? ;)
