A new compulsory national curriculum for under-fives imposes sixty nine benchmarks that they must achieve before they enter into the school system. This is ridiculous, it takes away from their parents the freedom to raise them as they see fit and doesn't take into account the fact that babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers develop at varied rates. Nursery schools, mother, and even child-minders and nannies (and possibly baby-sitters?) will now have to force these little ones to learn a bunch of stuff in a specific manner and order. This reeks of Big Brother trying to take control of all children and brainwash them. It can only lead to huge psychological and emotional damage in those kids.

I'm a firm believer that teachers should be left to teach and that overbearing curriculum's really get in the way of inspiring children to learn.
Children are not all the same and need to be catered to individually. A national curriculum attempts to make robots of our kids and I do agree that it's counterproductive, or very productive depending on which way you interpret it.
Theres a cool poem about teachers here on current, Check the link!-

This is totally wrong.
The beginning of control now
starting before they even start
