Barack's Dark Past - Why He Shouldn't Be Trusted

Read the article. It details (slightly) barack's past, which including experimentation with drinking and drugs. I don't know about you, but I don't want that to be my president. "There was a whole stretch of time when I didn't really apply myself a lot." Well I guess we can only hope if he gets the presidency, another stretch of time in which he doesn't apply himself again and destroys our country... he said he changed... but that brings up the age old question: does anyone ever really change?

And don't bring up Bush drinking... don't

This is that plus a step further

It won't work, Barack.

  • oh please

i know very very very few people who haven't experimented with drugs and alcohol during college (or even high school). and if a candidate claimed to have never done any of that, i would have a hard time believing them. experimentation is a part of growing up.

  • uhh i happen to know almost every single one of my friends has NOT experimented with drugs. do you know why??? we're hard working people with enough foresight to not want to ruin future opportunities by past, easily avoidable mistakes. someone who is running for such a prestigious position should've been planning this all his life (his life, sorry hilary)... a man is born a president. barack was not

  • When I got the email about a "dark past" for Barack Obama I thought he was involved in a gang. Maybe he rode the rails after killing a man just to watch him die. I could see Barack as a pimp, slapping his hoes in a purple and blue suit before he got the call to be in the Senate and then run for the Presidency.

Everyone makes bad decisions. The real person you are, your character at it's core, is shown from what you do after those decisions. I'd like to see a president who talks straight.

Fact of the matter is he's not a junkie now. He's also got the guts to tackle his past head on instead of trying to bury it. Bush tried to hide his past of drinking and poor military service. He tried to slip it past the public. Clinton "never inhaled" and lied about giving an intern a cigar. The way I see it is Obama has more chutzpah and gravitas by being honest with us.

If you want infallibilty then go live in Rome.

  • but you see, according to my theory, i dont believe a single person you just listed was a good president. and obama is no different. itd be interesting to see how many people like him simply because he is young, cool, and african american. i bet the numbers higher than you think

  • I could ask the same thing about Huckabee's campaign ads featuring Chuck Norris. You can also speculate that a lot of women will only vote for Obama because he's backed by Oprah.

The most important criteria for basing your vote are the issues at hand.

Tell me though, who do you think was a good president?

  • to tell you the truth, we havent had too many. im a reagan republican, and see him as the model for all presidents (note: him as the model, not his staff)

and i agree with what youre saying about the chuck norris commercial. i dont think huckabee needed to stoop that low to win over the youth. his convictions and beliefs carry enough weight themselves.

  • Oh my gosh, Barack did some drinking and drugging??!!??!!

Thank God Lil W never was a juicer or a coke head. But I guess republicans are exempt.

  • its not narrowmindedness. if there was a room full of murderous terrorists and one man who's never committed a terror act in his life, and i said he was the only one i supported, would you say its narrowmindedness? no. its an extreme example but it gets my point across
    LowFlyingJets
  • and why do you insist on bringing up bush everytime i say something bad about one of your cadidates? you think that every republican on earth thought bush was an amazing president. not so
    LowFlyingJets
  • To Low - Whattttttttt?????? Get what point across??? Who's the one nonterrorist in the group you're talking about??? Lil W? Cheney? Ashcroft? Rumsfeld? They ought to all be charged with war crimes. This is America. We don't go starting wars just because. And we did start the war in Iraq and we are responsible for 10s of thousands of deaths and maimings and family destructions.
    ObiaMan
  • Again Low!! It's makes no difference whether or not every republican thought Lil W was great and amazing or not. What matters is that every last one backed him because that's how things are done in the republican party. "Winning is everything." Everything else, morals, rights, equality, etc., all take a back seat in the republican party.
    ObiaMan
  • Oh pleaze!!! leave Barack Obama and his normal behaviour teenage past alone!! :)

  • Low - "A man is born a President"? Most people evolve into the person they will eventually become, learning from mistakes along the way, a bit unlike your friends who evidently bounced into this world, with this amazing preprogrammed wisdom? If you have to go all the way back to Obama's teen and college years to find this "dark past", you're really grasping for justification for your views.

  • it's one thing to back a president 100% in an election if he doesnt have competition, it's another to back him so as to save the presidency from being given to someone as obtuse as john kerry, who would've further degraded our country
    LowFlyingJets
  • I agree. The republicans are all about looking for that time you farted in class instead of doing something constructive.
    ObiaMan
  • ahh thats not what i'm trying to say. what i'm trying to say is, you're saying that all republicans backed bush in the elections... you have to understand: it was either back bush again or Kerry. And that's a no-brainer... what were we supposed to do? He wasn't doing awful at that point
    LowFlyingJets
  • John Kerry would have further degraded our country?????!!!!!!!??????

I remember under Clinton a lot of good times and peace and prosperity. All the Democrats of all time all put together haven't degraded this country than Lil W and his band of outlaws did in 6 short years.

You were asking for proof before. Just what exactly would Kerry have done that would have put us in worse standing than we are in now? Huh? Just exactly? Oh yea, he's a Democrat that murders babies. How stupid of me.
    ObiaMan
  • just because the clinton years were good doesnt mean that every democratic president that will ever exist will bring good years. you cant make that claim. maybe my claim was a little radical too, but we'll never know what he would've done... my guess is, he wouldve pulled the troops out as soon as he could and iraq would be a crater in the earth
    LowFlyingJets
  • iraq is a crater in the earth regardless

  • Hey Low and Philbert...

Be careful what types of generalizations you're making when you speak!
you "could see Barack as a pimp, slapping his hoes"? Because he's black? I'm not sure that's a constructive piece of this debate.
Lots of women are going to vote for Barack because of Oprah? I really hope that "women" are smart enough to make their own informed decisions. "men" usually are.

And as for the smoking and drinking stuff? It's his personal life, and his history. And I agree with Jade and meltsne on this one...

And if you think about it, Low, at how many events that Obama goes schmoozing at do you think they serve alcohol? Isn't schmoozing part of the "hard work" he has to do as a representative of the American people?

They aren't called "talking heads" for nothing...
