It was the drink of choice for 19th century painters, poets and writers. And now it's coming back through the Bay Area...

When I lived in Barcelona, I used to meet friends for weekly Absinthe outings at a local bar (Absinthe Tuesdays!). Im glad to see its finally made its way back to the Bay!

Is it coming on a large truck? What time does it come through...?

To bad almost all the Absinthe on the market is available sans thujone or any A.absinthium at all; it is often also dyed with artificial greens and blues since it lacks many of the original Herbal ingredients. So it's okay to laugh at the people who claim to " trip out " while drinking this aperitif, considering it is as silly to claim to have hallucinations while drinking Ouzo. I've read that some Vermouths and Ouzos contain higher levels of thujone than most brands of popular Absinthe. By the way, I'm in no way denieing the fantastic nature of a good absinthes nuances and it's astonishingly intoxicating bouquet of herbal aroma. The buzz you get from even your imported absinthes is from nothing but it's high alcohol levels.
