Ron Paul has tapped into something, and we haven't heard the last of him.

  • i didn't know Paul wanted to get us out of the united nations. that is a HUGE plus for me. I don't know that any of the other candidates would say the same thing...

  • The UN is an absolute joke as is Ron Paul

  • Take a look at his site to get the full picture of Paul's platform.

  • Ron Paul in my opinion is a unlikely but ideal candidate. The war on drugs needs to be ended along with the war on terrorism because you cant fight ideas and expect to not only make tension worse. I believe education is the key!
    Thanks,

  • Ron Paul wants to run the country like it was meant to be run. A nation formed by immigrants with one goal in mind - freedom and personal liberty. NO other candidate even starts to understand that.

  • Ron Paul shouldn't be seriously considered for dog catcher. Look up Libertarian.

  • Here are some of the positions Ron Paul has taken repeatedly by sponsoring or co-sponsoring bills. This info is well-documented and -linked at: http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/2007/11/ron-pauls-record-i....

He's adamantly pro-life and wants to deny funds to family planning activities. He wants a constitutional amendment guaranteeing right to life (presumably until you reach the age to go into the military).

    He wants to repeal OSHA.

He wants to remove the government's right to set a national minimum wage.

He wants to repeal the Motor Voter Act.

He wants to repeal antitrust laws.

He wants to deny citizenship to those born here if their parents are not citizens.

He wants to repeal the Soil and Water Conservation Act

He wants to reduce the price of gas . . . by allowing more offshore drilling and removing "all Federal regulations and taxes on the production of fuel"

He opposes allowing the International Criminal Court to have jurisdiction over the US

He wants to end US membership in the UN

He wants to withdraw from the ABM Treaty.

He wants to repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act.

He wants to repeal the estate tax

Now, you may agree with some or all of these positions. But you should know that these are positions that he cares enough about to have sponsored a fair number of bills on them. And some of these positions are not getting a lot of air time from his supporters. Some of what RP says is refreshing, and it's great to see even a minor candidate from the GOP advocating pulling the plug on the war in Iraq. But there's more to him than the sound bites we're hearing.

  • suspiciously well-informed response

  • I don't know if the comment, "suspiciously well-informed response" applies to my post, above, or another. If it refers to mine, I cited my source, which is on the Internet and available to anyone. Does being well-informed or, in this case, having Internet access, make one suspect? If so, I can live with that, and hope anyone voting would prefer being suspiciously well-informed rather than dangerously, but securely, ignorant.

  • He want's to dismantle the government. He just happens to know the talking points people want to hear. You need to be voting on more than one issue. End The war is easy to say, very popular. You don't need to say much else. People aren't looking too close after that. He wouldn't be a blip on the radar if they did.

  • Ron Paul is very intriguing and beguiling.

  • Refreshing. Granted, the things he wants to do will take a lot of time and tedious work (leaving the UN!!). I like the direction he's headed in, I just don't know if such large movements and reforms can actually be accomplished successfully.

I like how he wants to stick to the Constitution. Some may say that times have changed, but he knows his basis.

I don't know if I fully support him yet.

  • phidippides, Are you some kind of secret agent? People that think Ron Paul is some kind of savior are going to suspect anyone that can research and come back with facts about what Paul is about. He is a well spoken GWB. He wants to privatize everything. He would be a disaster.

"The UN is an absolute joke as is Ron Paul"

The UN has 192 member states, including the US. You mean they are jokes?
Fine. Let's say the entire mankind is a joke. Why not?
    That includes you, after all.

    @LowFlyingJets

"i didn't know Paul wanted to get us out of the united nations. that is a HUGE plus for me. "

What do you think would happen if the US government suddenly rejected the UN charter? Who would benefit and how?

    @jhardeman

"A nation formed by immigrants with one goal in mind - freedom and personal liberty. "

Then you also think most Americans do not want freedom and personal liberty as they do not support Ron Paul.

"NO other candidate even starts to understand that."

They just don't accept Paul's odd definition of "freedom and personal liberty".

  • Dr. Paul is the man!
  • Why does Scherer need to be so pessimistic. If you want big government to keep running our lives keep putting out negative videos on the only candidate that offers any real solutions to our countries problems.

He does not want to go back to the gold standard he wants our dollar to have some kind of backing.

It really isn't about the drugs it is the money spent fighting them. (nice close-up of those buds)

    Down with Billary and Oprahama.

  • When I saw Ron Paul in the first Republican debate I decided to co-found Kansas University's Students for Ron Paul. We've done much to get his name and message out there here in Kansas. One of the things we have done is paint a garage "Ron Paul."

  • People really should read about his history and what he wishes to accomplish. Hell I love the man cause he the ONLY candidate who doesn't try to spin a thing for his campaign. He is honest and actually wants to change things for OUR benefit not Big Gov's.

So many people are against him cause they are still asleep in there "real world". They believe that the News is legit. They believe that America will always be number one. They believe that we are right (war) all the time. Well wake up. Read your History. Super power doesn't last forever especially when you have a group of people controlling it for there own interests. • Magnus_Kain, well said. People should realize that Kucinich and Paul were both blacked out by the media for a reason. Ron Paul 2008!
