Giuliani slipping in the polls - what's he doing wrong?

Well the new polls are in, and only 25% of republicans are supporting giuliani nowadays. He's been in the media a lot recently regarding his business practices and personal conduct, so it's easy to see why he's slipping a little bit. I think it can be attributed to more than that. Republicans who don't just want to vote with their party are looking at giuliani and seeing him as, well, not really a republican. His many leftist views on many important issues are surely detrimental to his campaign. The real question is: do you think giuliani will keep his slight lead and get the nomination? What does he need to do to get it? Huckabee has been surging in the past month and a half and now commands an impressive support percentage. I was an early supporter of Huckabee, and still support him today. I think he has what it takes. If you're a giuliani supporter, what do you think?

  • Huckabee is surging because they are in Iowa. Once he hits New Hampshire, he will most likely be a non-factor.

I mean, even Pat Robertson took second place in Iowa when the nut-job ran for President.

  • I think some of Giuliani's past issues are finally starting to catch up with him. He also seems to be very liberal for a republican candidate and after watching the republican debates, he seems to be getting ripped apart on a lot of topics.

  • Well, I think Iowa has a lot to do with national polling. The higher the ranking of the candidate in Iowa, the more national press one gets, creating more buzz and bandwagon jumpers (in the 'on' direction).

  • yea id agree with that. but huckabee is still significantly more popular than he was a month ago... it cannot be due completely to iowa. hes really getting his message out there and he definitely is the best speaker out of the bunch, performing as flawlessly as a candidate can in the debates

  • Perhaps it's because Iowans are realizing that he's actually a moderate on the right side of the center line rather than a bat-shit crazy extremist from either end. It's a real shame that this country is more and more losing itself to party politics where you can only choose between one of two dynasties. That fights the idea of a representative democracy.

Or maybe they finally noticed that he's beating the 9/11 horse dead and betraying the memory of those people by turning it into a campaign tool... I can't help but take a crack at him, he's an ass.

  • Rudy Giuliani is a crook of the highest degree. He said in an ABC news interview with Peter Jennings that he was told that the towers were to collapse on September 11, 2001. If he was told the towers were the collapse and managed to get himself out of the buildings why did he not pass that information on to the 431 emergency workers that died on the tragic events of that day. Watch Giuliani: September Criminal or 9/11 Hero? Not to mention he put at risk over 50,000 emergency workers by not properly providing the necessary breathing equipment to be in the tragedy of that magnitude. He and Christine Todd Whitman covered up the fact that the air quality after 9/11 was completely toxic. A bit of information that the emergency workers I'm sure would've liked to have known about.
