Two deaf parents didn't understand what was going on during the court proceedings to get their children back because there were no interpreters for them. Now they face losing their children permanently.

I can't believe this, the whole problem could have been sorted with the smallest amount of forward thinking.

Such a sad story. :(

The district attorney in this case has such a black heart. How could he accuse these Deaf parents of pretending to not know what is going on! He must think that lip-reading is simple...even when people have their backs to you. He should have his hearing taken away for a few days and see what its really like to be unable to hear.
These proceedings should be declared a mistrial because of the law being broken by the judge, both of the attorneys, and the court commissioner.
Interpreting is a complicated process. Finger-spelling is not an acceptable substitute. It seems that even when the interpreters showed that they were unable to interpret with any fluency. Unfortunately many Deaf people are disenfranchised because of a lack of proper interpreters. -
I'm speechless and the judge is to blame.

That is so wrong.

Look up SS Title IV-D and see why the courts tear families apart............This is not just a fathers rights issue as you all might see here in this case.
