Barry Bonds wants to play another season in MLB, but he'll have to overcome this tall obstacle to keep his hopes of breaking 800 home runs alive.

Who still thinks Barry will be back across the bay?
-
the difference between Barry & McGwire, Palmeiro, etc., is that Barry is infinitely more stubborn...
-
I think this is a total witchhunt. I support Barry if he does go acoss the bay to Ghostville. Wouldnt be the first time SF tossed out a great to only play across the bay. Remember Rice in the Raider uniform? Some of us wish not to.

But who remembers Rice in a Seahawks or even a Broncos jersey?

Fear not you Bay Area worry worts. This man will not play baseball again.
and now a selection from my previous comment on Klenga's post
Here's why;
1. He is on trial for serious offenses
2. No owner or manager who matters (aka contenders) can possibly think Bonds would be good for their team.
3. No fan base will support this guy now or after he serves out whatever reduced sentence he is able to finagle his way into.
4. He is an A-hole (notice the capital A)
5. The MLB doesn't want him back.
So that's enough reasons for now. You can also look at the other guys that have "been the scapegoats" for the steroid era. Raphael Palmeiro - gone. Mark McGwire - nobody's seen him. Sure guys like Giambi are still in the game but most of them have admitted what they have done, weren't A-holes and didn't have the true impact on the game that Bonds did. Any team signing him is symbolically saying that they endorse everything that Bonds believes in. Whether your a fan, season ticket holder, sponsor or scientist in Antartica you don't want your jersey tainted by having a convict wear your jersey.
Bonds has maybe two years left playing as a DH. We know that if he was to come back it would be to try and win a championship. Is there an owner/gm/manager out there thats going to sign him so that their championships will be forever rapt up in the Bonds saga? I don't think so. So in the end he has nothing positive to offer anymore.
The fact is that this guy is finally getting the attention that he wanted throughout his career albeit not in the form I think he would like. He had his chance to go quietly but he decided to be selfish and disrespectful. Good riddance sir, we must banish you from the game forever. -
RICE LOOKED AWESOME IN THE BLACK & SILVER...stupid 9ers never knew how to hold on to the greats. Hence they all close out their careers on other teams...where I like them much better.
Now, on the Barry front...I am not so into him crossing the Bay. I mean come on! He's a Giants STAPLE! I don't care if he retires or gets put in jail for steroids (it happened people, accept it) - but I definitely DON'T want to see him close out his career anywhere but the Giants.
