Joel Salatin is changing food. As Joel says: "All truly sustainable long lasting valuable revolutions happen from the ground up, not the top down."

This is a spring day on Polyface Farms. Joel fixes the water irrigation system and gives a tour of the farm to a class of college freshman. His son Daniel talks about growing up on the farm.

Polyface Farms was recently featured in the best selling book, The Omnivore's Dilemma, written by Michael Pollan. The book follows four meals from the plate to their origin. On his journey, Michael stumbled across Joel, and decided to chronicle a week he spent at Polyface.
This exposure has brought thousands of people out to Polyface----

  • I love this statement from their website . . . 'We do not ship anything anywhere. We encourage folks to find their local producers and patronize them.' Ha Ha!

It would be great to find a local farmer like this one near me!

  • It's so important for people to learn more about where their food comes from. This film depicts a farmer who is doing it the right way and is a great model for others to follow. Hopefully people who watch this will be more inspired to buy food products which are produced in a sustainable way.

  • Great clip. One only hopes that these college students are motivated to adopt changes that reflect Joel's vision for a more locally dependent sustainable system.

  • Loved it. great passionate main character who looks like he could tear a cow in two with his hands but too compassionate to do it. a prophet genuinely concerned about the environment and well filmed and edited
