The rover dug up white colored silica sand this past May, which is a sign that geological activity was present there, that typically results in microbial life on Earth. The rover recently freed itself after being stuck in the dirt for 2 weeks.

Here is a better explanation for those that would like it on exactly what it means when they said signs of "Microbial Life" have been found on Mars.

The headline of this is certainly misleading. The rover discovered possible evidence of a possible scenario that existed in the past. This scenario, when found on a completely different planet typically results in microbial life.
I'm as interested in finding life on Mars as the next person, but shocking headlines aren't going to get us there faster. -
thats really really cool sounding. i think instead of just looking around we should dig a really deep hole on mars. i think we would find some pretty cool things
