Do IQ tests actually measure IQ?

One theory suggests IQ tests actually measure MODERNITY, not inherent, genetic intelligence.
I just think it's very interesting to find out the criteria for measuring intelligence, both the INcluded and EXcluded factors. I would like to also find out the supposed IQ's of those who develop the tests, but I guess that's another article.
Also, Gladwell offers this correction to his article:

It makes sense to me. IQ tests are pretty learn-able anyway, so that makes it PRETTY obvious. I actually did an (unscientific) experiment on this. I took an IQ test, and got a 130 something... Then I read a book on how to think better AND do better on IQ tests... After the book, I got a 160 something. Inherent? I don't think so... You can't really take these tests and compare them with people who live around the world in vastly different environments. If you do that, the results have nothing to do with innate intelligence, and everything to do with experience and environment. DUH! If our scholars haven't figured that out, then we are in BIG trouble.
