Here is my pod for the fall semester of the college_current student executive producer program. Hope you enjoy this tale of a young man and his unique hobby right here in San Francisco.

  • This seemed too long and boring to me. Bees are very interesting, so I'm sure there's a story here, but I think this needs some help. The music seemed way too mellow and your inside shots were dark.

    I wish I were being more constructive, but I'm not sure how. What about adding jokes or slapstick and trying to make it a funnier pod? Some more upbeat music might help.

    How about showing a Chinese couple in full bee suits on their patio overlooking Jon as they tend their bees. They could be speaking Chinese and examining there perfectly formed honey comb and laughing at Jon's smaller imperfect comb. Or how about the neighborhood kids playing nearby in bee suits to protect themselves?
    Silly idea and probably not what you had in mind, but what about something along those lines?

    this is really cool. you totally get the current style, and what a compelling character (love the stuff he says about being a slaveholder, when he talks about his neighbors, and when he talks about how he makes honey as an easy gift!). i definitely agree with danny and others that as is it would need some trimming to go on current (wouldn't be that hard to do and preserve the integrity of the piece). also, i think the music is cool; maybe too many different styles for one piece (current pods tend to be scored with only one or two different songs), but definitely fits the quirky and cool mood of the piece.

  • I thought this guy was a joke! I didn't realize he was a real person until a few minutes into the piece...maybe it was the mustache?

    very interesting and i'm looking forward to the other pods us Student EP's will be uploading in the next few days!

  • Just to clarify my earlier comment... I thought it was really good that you submitted an 8 minute piece. It's easy to cut-down later, especially for the Current Preditors (producer / editors) if the piece gets acquired!

  • lets get one thing straight NO YOU CANT EAT WAX.may be he should press the honey out????? besides the fact that this gie is as novice as a bee keeper comes its still a nice pod. i think the fact that the gies breaking local codes is kinda funny.raping it up into a pice of brown paper? wereing you bisnis suit? hes a country boy all right.its comidy mixed with something else,i just cant define that something else right now..but its there.

  • This guy is ridiculous. The only thing I dislike about the piece is that I don't know which subject it's focusing on. The bees? The honey? The man? Just needs some clarification.

  • good info about honey making, the dude appears very plain talking and straightforward, which is cool, and I like that being a beekeeper for him is motivated by making gifts for people, thats way cool. I think the music adds a spooky tone to the pod, don't know if that is your intention? This pod could be a great start to a whole series on San Franciscans.
