View an honest chat with a Chicago Public School Teacher as she discusses everything from No Child Left Behind to Charter Schools in America....and whether or not teacher's should be paid as much as Doctors!

I like this because it deals with the perspective of teachers, who are often forgotten in our discussion of education. The interviewee and director do a good job of reflecting the realities of a teacher's perspective without "blaming" school achievement issues on any one individual or family. Look forward to seeing more work like this.

honest and real look at teaching in america. allows non-teacher to hear the perspective of a real teacher and how governmental dogma is manifest in the daily life of an educator.

excellent! not enough focus is given to education particularly from the perspective of teachers. this is a real on the ground look at the realities of america's schools and the options available to students, parents and teachers.

I agree...I work with my 5 y/o @ home all the time with her school work and also give her other work assigned from me. She loves to do homework. Her teacher said she was the first student in her class to write her first and last name...I know that the one on one I give her is benefiting her academically....Shantel G.

Hey Itika, this is a great piece! You really touched on a lot of aspects of the school system that constantly need to be addressed. I would definitely like to see some varying opinions from other faculty, students, and parents alike. Keep doing your thang! - Dave L

The best teacher awareness video I've seen in a whole while.
We are the ones passing the cultural heritage to the new generation. Or at least, the tools for them to conquer this knowlegde.

She said it so well... "The emphasis needs to be on teaching..." I also love that she didn't really put down NCLB (as many teachers do) but rather touched on the parts of it that are failing and need to be addressed.
Thank you for this video. I don't know if you'll ever truly understand how grateful teachers are when they hear other teachers speak out about the issues that are troubling all of our hearts.
Thank you.-
