I'd rather see an aborted pregnancy than a child raised in an unhealthy environment

While I'm in no way advocating teen pregnancy or anything like that, I think abortion allows couples a second option rather than putting their child under foster care or raising them in an improper environment where they will be dangerous to society as adults

  • NO! What I think we need is a massive, straightforward educational campaign on pregnancy and the responsibilities of rearing children so we don't have to discuss abortion. In almost every divorce case I hear about, the judge's/counselor's first thought is "I'm going to do what is best for the child". Do you really think that the best thing for a child is forcing him or her onto parents incapable of providing a nurturing household simply to scold those parents for their irresponsible act? Please understand that I cringe when this topic comes up and view my position as the lesser of two evils

  • Well I would agree with you, except that the U.S. adoption system is shamefully dysfunctional. The bureaucracy and red tape that stands between parents and children is absolutely nauseating. My aunt and uncle were unable to conceive, so they chose adoption. I kid you not, from the first form they filled out, it took 3 WHOLE YEARS for a pair of adopted twins to enter their home. Even then, one twin was taken back after 6 weeks because the natural mother decided she wanted her back, and still has rights to do that for 6 months. All the while these children are sitting in dilapidated foster homes while our magnanimous bureaucracy slowly and hesitantly churns away at its paperwork. I don't care what anyone says, a child's brain is working the very second it exits the womb. What affect do you think it will have for a child to be tossed back and forth like this between two women vying to be its mother? And don't even get me started on the tax burden. Again, it is never good when we bring up adoption or abortion.

    Its a very rational thing for any human being to do.i bet that is the very first thing they think when the *unthinkable* happens ,but it is quickly dimenished by the guilt they feel.but bottom line is why endanger a child in the first place?your right.

  • I believe it it is more cruel to bring a child into the world who does not have "real parents" than to allow an abortion to take place. Furthurmore, legal or illegal, abortions have and always will take place constantly, so it's really a matter of whether we want safe abortions or back alley ones that threaten the mother as well.

  • well I disagree with you......I feel abortion will always be wrong. There are other ways of giving a child a good home if the parent doesnt feel like they would do a good job. Its people in the world that cant have children at all and they are willin to adopted. Abortion is selfish and wrong.
