What does it feel like to be shot by a taser? Evan Engel finds out in the most painful pod ever.

Omigosh Evan that was absolutely insane...I will forever have chills at the sight of a stun gun or taser. Crazy but very very well done!

After watching this pod, I think it is terrible that the student from FU was shot with the taser gun. Seeing your reaction from the shot and hearing your feedback is proof that these weapons should only be used under the most extenuating conditions. The case at the Kerry speech did not deserve the taser whatsoever.

This is awesome, I hate cops, I don't think they are good for anything & if you lived in NYC, then you would know what I'm talking about. Tasering looks painful as hell, and I would probably punch anyone in the face if they shot that @ me cop or not. And I think something should be done about police that use this, I think for any amount of time someone is shot, this is torture..... 0o0o & I've been sprayed with Mase, the cops have drawn their guns on me twice, not to mention beaten me up before. lol but whatever, and well only you can imagine why, take a guess.

Evan! Finally the suspense is over. I've got lots and lots of notes for you, but I love it.

That looks like it hurt!

I guarantee you that there will be some long term effects of getting tasered. That weapon should be use for the most dangerous and uncooperating person that present a viable threat. Someone talking crap or protesting should not be tasered. Every cop that carries one of these weapons, should have to be tasered at least two times a month to remind them what they are carrying. These guys are abusing their authority with these things. I guess it is better than getting shot in the back. SAD.

Evan -- what a great film! It was hilarious and awful at the same time. I love that you called your mom at the end. I loved hearing your mom going, "WHY?"
At UCLA, a student got tasered in the library one night, by UCLA police for resisting when they tried to get him to leave after he didn't have his ID. He was leaving when they tasered him. It was in the news for a while. The response of one of my film classes was to make fun of being tasered as if it was no big deal. Your film definitely made me understand how excruciating it can be. Good job!-

haha great ending. great idea, great subjects. all the makings are there, I just wish it could be about seven minutes shorter. Everything in there is entertaining, but a lot of it just doesn't serve the story. Anyway, great work. I sure wouldn't do it....

Great work, man. I can't believe I didn't see this early. Great sense of humor mixed with great story telling. You really get a true sense of what it is like to get tased. Obviously, it could be cut down a bit and the sound needs some serious mixing, but the fact that this is not on tv is ridiculous! What more could Current want? Keep up the good work.

"The taser is not the thing that replaces the gun, it’s what replaces all the other things that police might do other than use a gun, like talk to you." -- Interesting quote I saw today on Reddit

i think it is great that you were willing to dive deeper into the controversy... very noble... and it looked very painful.
... but cudos.-

Glad you didn't make it shorter...luved the first part...the responses from craigslist...still laughing about those.
Anyway, nice work, it needed to be done, and yes, why isn't it on tv?
These weapons have even been used on old people, and the rising death toll should be enough to make it stop. It is just vile and disgusting to consider what some officers are willing to do just to feel a stupid surge of power when they have a new weapon at their disposal....I think ClomaxFilms made an excellent point, "Every cop that carries one of these weapons, should have to be tasered at least two times a month to remind them what they are carrying." If you were willing to go through this for a Current pod, then that is the least we could expect from the officers who are carrying these weapons.-

Very interesting. Also unfortunately very scary. We know that every day the US is entering more and more into a police state. They can pretty much do whatever they want with out repercussions.
This is an article that was recently in my local paper. I was so pleased to read an article like this published in our local news. The subject isn't as gnarly as tasers, but relates to the unnecessary policing that we are all dealing with...

Colby Friend has some great ideas about how to attempt to police the police, or oversee their authority. It is a start, but I believe would take a tremendous outcry from the public, many city council mtgs? I wouldn't even know where to start. Maybe here!!
