A Brooks Institute Student Film: As more natural disasters occur, questions of Federal Policy for aid arise: is the system able to handle what it takes to recover? In this piece, a dairy goat farmer from San Diego, Calif., encounters numerous roadblocks while trying to secure aid for a federally protected creek that flows through the middle of her property. Should the County take responsibility for previous decisions to deny her requests for firebreaks in this over-grown area, or must she take on the forces of erosion on her own?

  • Good job. Shows the isolation of the different government agencies.

  • The lack of government response concerning this watershed is astounding. I can understand the idea of "just one person's property" but the creek and it's water supply to Southern California is important to more people than just this property owner. While this is her land and her creek, I feel the overall populous has a greater interest here.

The water supply to Camp Pendelton should deserve more consideration than is portrayed in this documentary.

The one question I would have liked to have answered, but not shown in the Documentary is or was how she was able to move all of the animals at the time of the fire. It mentioned real property damage, but did not mention loss of livestock. I'm sure there was some.
