  • I think this is a great example of what's wrong with hip hop (and popular music in general) in America. This is just stupid. Sorry.

    i dunno...while i'm of the opinion that songs like that are not the greatest music known to man, i'm also coming to the realization that such songs do serve a purpose in that they express a sentiment of a part of our society...really they're like a voice for a subset of out society and one that we like would not hear otherwise and many don't know about in the first place.

  • how is this at all what's wrong with hip hop and popular music in general? First of all, this is on the fringe of hip hop music (Kid Sister is known for having unorthodox production that dabbles in the realm of house music, and electronica). On top of that, this is NOT popular music. This is run off an independent label, by 2 relatively unknown DJs (they're big in the DJ world, but ask the average dude walking down the street who nick catchdubs is, and just wait for the blank look you get as a response). On top of all that, this, to me, represents what is RIGHT with the world of music. Not every hip hop act has to be a socially conscious preacher. Sometimes its okay to just have fun, as long as its still creative. This music video is unique, and fresh. And Kid Sister has a style all unto her own. Not to mention KanYe West and DJ A-trak who bring a lot to the table creatively. I'm just going to have to say, I don't think you really know what you're talking about.
