Employees in workplaces such as restaurants, hotels, cleaning companies, hairdressers and childcare services are among those whose employees are most likely to be dodging the minimum wage laws. A national survey conducted by the TUC union reveals that around 150,000 workers are being denied the legal minimum £5.52 per hour, which falls to £4.60 for 18 to 21-year-olds.

  • in the US servers at restaurants are not required to make the minimum wage but in the end they make a ton more money off of tips. i read an article a while back stating that the average server in San Francisco makes $80,000 a year. not bad.

  • This is because there are agencies being set up which literally exploit Polish and other migrant workers by taking a cut of their wage.....

    How can a company justify specialising in Polish and migrant workers without having a hidden agenda?
