When reflecting on the current state of our world and the environment, I always go back to Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot speech because the words are so very true. And I believe that once we read them and take them seriously we will reach the higher consciousness we need to reach in order to solve our problems. This interpretation of his words is one I particularly appreciate.

  • Well, mankind is blowing it, so I think we deserve a bit of derision for it. We truly are arrogant on the whole as a species and we are now paying for it by sacrifing our own planet. Carl Sagan had it right.

  • Thank you! I think I'll point to that video from my website--it covers so much so very graphically.

I've made the choice to make land conservation my primary issue out of the myriad of issues that affect us all. That's because the Earth is sacred to me. It's the ultimate sacrilege/sin when the hubris/gain/conceit/hate/war/taking and other tendencies touched on by this video desecrate the planet.

wow, janforgore, that was crazy awesome. it's interesting that I stumbled upon this by chance when I posted something and used "the human condition" as a tag. there was only 1 other post sharing the tag I'd chosen. I was interested to see what it was and it was this. even more interesting is that I also posted something while reflecting on the world's sad state of affairs. it was a frustrated, apathetic outcry, if that's not too much of an oxy mornon. nice video.

    stardate, that picture is awesome.
